The Dolphins already had one versatile, explosive and experienced edge rusher, so why not add another in former Steeler Joey Porter? Sure, Nick Saban is gone, but 3-4 guru Dom Capers, who worked so well with Porter and other outside linebackers in Pittsburgh, should be drooling at the fact he can throw both Porter and Jason Taylor at offenses from all different angles. Miami's defense already was damn good -- if it can find more consistent secondary play, it will be the league's best in 2007. ... "

........... I love this deal more and more each day..............

ppl dont realize what this is gonna do for us.....get some depth in the secondary and dline and this will be the best defense in the league

Capers didint coach porter in pittsburg...
but..yha..i love the signing..))

Why do all these supposed experts keep saying Dom worked with Porter?

capers was responsible for implimenting the defensive system that pittsburgh still runs today. when capers was d coordinator in pitt, lebeau was defensive backs coach and took exactly what capers did and kept it intact.

i think they are confusing the fact that he played in pitts D, which was essentially capers D, with actually playing for him.

My mother really liked this signing too, but i don't want to start a thread about that.

Too bad your mother's only credentials consist of your birth. That's probably why you wouldn't start a thread about her.

Every year we hear the same thing. The reality is does Porter make our defence better...the answer maybe: Burgh LBs have a bad reputation on underacheiving when they get to new teams. Will this be the case for Porter I sure as hell don't hope so. The other fact MANY people keep overlooking is that yes in general our team is going to be younger this year however our top 2 players on Defence aren't getting any younger. Every year Taylor and Thomas surprise me as they kept pushing away father time but we as dolfans have to realise that one day there play will start going down. If we really want this defence to be elite we need the young players to start picking up there game. I've been a huge fan of Crowder but he has yet to dominate and be a game changer. I think he has the potential but it remains to be seen. I think we will miss Kevin Carter more then we think and I dont know who is ready to step up. Traylor had 4 sacks last year at 37 year old whose going to take over that role and keep team from running up the middle against us?

All this to say, I sure hope our D Dominates but noone will know till we hit the field. I still laugh when SI predicted we would be in the Superbown last year and here we are picking 9th in the draft.

burgh linebackers have a rep for underacheiving when they get to new systems, joey porter is not going to a new sysytem.

here is a quote i pulled from an interview w/ capers that is posted on the steelers home page(no link just go to the site and search dom capers and only 1 article will show up)
I think our defense is as similar to Pittsburgh as anybody in the league
