Not necessarily. He could have his head turned one way but have his eyes looking in a different direction. If he can see the same with a visor I'd say try it out.

It looks like during a practice and if so was probably during the time of his concussion due to light sensitivity. Just a guess.

I remember reading somewhere that the dark ones are not allowed now unless they have a prescription.

The reason being that they need to be able to see your eyes if you have a concussion and can't be messing around with taking your helmet off.
