No doubt About it.....an injury that crippled this team.

We we're too thin to begin with.....then you lose Albert and your rookie right tackle has to move to left tackle leaving you with no right tackle....and the guard play was poor to begin with.

Our secondary wasn't thin.....it just got hammered.

Albert's injury and the fact we played three (four if you count Detroit) teams with Top 10 defenses.

Top five.

Buffalo, Denver, and Detroit are top FIVE defenses by almost all of the commonly used metrics. Or they were last week. Haven't looked this week.

If you do one of these for the defense you will see a mirror with yards going up at the same time.

Our passing has hovered around 200 yards but the rushing yards have dropped off dramatically.

I was noticing that our possessions that start inside the opponents side of the field have dropped off at the same time.
We had 18 in the 1st 8 games but only 8 since in the last 5 games. How in the hang can Albert be out affect our short fields?
But it sure looks like it has. Its like we made a deal with the Devil for that San Diego shutout.
After that.
Loose Albert
Loose Run Game
Loose Run Defense
Loose short fields
Loose games

Ah, Dallas Thomas, the gift that keeps on giving...I wonder if any more players will get injured due to his ****ty play?

Those teams are still in the Top Five and when you add the Jets who are currently 7th, that's four teams in the Top 10.

we had a playoff team but we got wreaked by injuries. Its ridiculous people want to "blow it up". we are heading in the right direction, if the team keeps playing for Joe i think we should keep him for 1 more year

It's interesting that the running game seems to have been impacted more than the passing game after Albert's injury. Any theories?

It's not so much the Branden Albert injury -- which was entirely predictable, considering his history -- it's that the injury ended up putting Dallas Thomas on the field. Don't get me wrong, Albert played very well, and was by all accounts a terrific leader. But when you have no right flank, your army is going to suffer, no matter how good the rest of your army, so to speak.

pretty soon it will be another of the mission critical guys...the qb

I think I would be done watching football for the year if that happened. On Sunday's I would probably just watch game film of ILB's, G's, S's, RB's and TE's/WR's that are coming out in the draft until the conference championships and the SB.

Thats why any comparison to this years oline vs last year without referencing the injuries is a joke...

Ya, I'm not necessarily saying that LT play is impacting the offensive performance, but that the shifting around of the OL left a glaring weakness at RT that has impacted performance. The Albert injury significantly impacted the effectiveness of the OL and he offense as a whole.

Certainly, playing top defenses in that stretch didn't help, but the gradual decline of offensive stats across the board seems to point to a problem the unit itself.
