In terms of Volek, this is kinda Dolphins related:

i find it very curious that Tennessee will be starting Matt Mauck today over Billy Volek.... i wonder if it's just because they know what they have in Volek and want to just get the LSU rookie some work... but then i read somewhere else that the Titans are also very interested in Jay Cutler (Vandy's in Nashville)....

Does this just mean McNair is officially bye bye? Or Volek isn't their heir apparent?

It means that they realized that they need to move on and cut McNair and also have realized that Volek is just a back-up

Well... granted his age.... But 30 is not 35.... It's interesting how much opionion changes on a guy after he takes a beating in our yard....

Let's pretend the Titans are not going to retain Volek.... Overall, i'll say he's a lot better than Gus Frerotte.... With 492 career passes, i'd say the guy has put in about a full season's worth of aggregate work... And with that, he has an 86.5 rating... 24/13 ratio... 60.6% completions... With most of that done behind their horribly injured O-line last season...

and if we're waiting for the '07 crop of QBs to draft ... he seems like a decent choice who wouldn't cost too much ... Cutler is not going to be there at 16, folks... Sorry... And trading up in the first round, for what it would cost, would be a mistake....

Would not read much into it since Matt Mauck is definately not thier future but they have enough sense to take a look at him.

he'd be an upgrade over what we have... i'm near certain... and in the meantime, we can nurture a 4th or 5th-round QB...

I see McNair and Volek both gone in 2 years McNair leaving this season and Volek gone the next!

They just want to see what he can do. They already know what Volek can do as a starter, now they want to see what Mauck can do as a starter.
