Volin: Dolphins front office growing concerned about Ross' meddling

Attention Stephen Ross: You now have a staff that has experience in grooming quarterbacks. Let them do their damn job.

Ireland haters may get what they want here.
If Ross forces him to draft Tannehill against his will... Jeff will step down after it all.

I'm sure it's hard to not MEDDLE in something you're passionate about, which Ross clearly is. But he is clueless, he's proven that time and time again. His desire to win and make the Dolphins a high profile entity in south florida and in all of professional sports has gotten in the way of the team properly rebuilding. It's frustrating not getting results and quickly, we all know that, but Ross trying to patch a Super Bowl winner together out of retreads and NFL junkyard players is just embarrassing.

Ross sure doesn't need to be the next Jerry Jones but are any of you telling me that if you owned the team you wouldn't be heavily involved in the draft? Most of us wouldn't go so far as to make our GM draft a player we like but I can guarentee most of us would be throwing our two cents in the conversations.

Yeah but we are speaking from a fans perspective. Ross is a businessman, who purchased the Dolphins as a business transaction. An enterprise that has people in place running it. Whether they are the right people or not MIGHT be his call, but that doesn't mean he should have say over the day to day things that the Dolphins do. Players, practices, etc. That's up to the coaches, to the general manager. What gives him the qualification to say Tannehill is the guy? He's not a scout. Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys long before the NFL was such a corporate league. Where owners might have had backgrounds in sports, moved up through the ranks or at the very least were familiar with some aspect of professional sports - Like maybe they were involved in large construction businesses, so they built a stadium and bought a franchise - i.e. Ed Snider in Philadelphia, very hands on owner. Ross is coming completely out of left field here, taking over a franchise and dictating the wrong decisions. Throwing money at things he doesn't understand. I have no clue about soccer, but If I had a billion dollars I'd probably go and buy a European football club, hire people who KNEW about the game, and let my team work for me.

I wonder if maybe Ross has been meddling more so someone in the FO leaked the story about him wanting Tannehill to make that a big issue so Ross would be forced to deny it and then after the storm died down back off generally in football decisions.

That would be a Machiavellian way to go about getting your boss off your back if you're Ireland, and it just might have worked.

What's worse than a thread started based off a tweet?

When the OP only gives us a link to the twit it was tweeted by. At least quote the damn thing instead of making me click on the stupid link and continuously scroll down until I find the tweet that I think best matches the thread title.

God I hate Twitter.

this story was dead yesterday. Ireland shot this down this morning as well. i dont buy this story. Ross meddles, Peterson was our new VP of football operations, Flynn was set to be a dolphin etc. these fools know nothing.

This is hardly as much of a stab in the dark as Flynn set to be a Dolphin. It's obvious concern for a guy who is very outspoken about the Dolphins, pushed hard for Harbaugh pushed hard for Fisher pushed hard for Manning. He's KNOWN for his meddling at this point, Ireland isn't going to agree obviously be we all know it.

I may not like this if it's true, but it's his team.

Ross should meddle with the 2nd rd choice, considering we can't seem to pick a player in the 2nd worth a damn. Ross may bring us a pro bowler if he takes over the 2nd round pick. He needs to trust his guys and let them do their job, or fire them all and hire someone who can do the job.
