Vonta Leach contract terminated by Ravens

Dolfans loving the fact Leach was released & hoping Miami signs him are not thinking. Leach was released to create cap, cap the Ravens can use to resign or franchise Monroe. So it's horrible news for the Dolphins.

Everyone report out there on Monroe expect him to remain a Raven, Baltimore releasing Leach is further proof.

This.

LT market shrinks, price goes up.

anyone thinking Monroe had any chance of hitting the FA market, are only fooling themselves.

Are there a lot of Dolfans loving the fact that Leach was released?

Im just not sure who ever considered Monroe a proper option the guy aint hitting the market

That Flacco contract will kill them for years.

Leach's release doesnt create much space...only 1.75mil. With Oher, Monroe, Pitta, and several others to sign, Leach's contract is just a drop in the bucket.

If Lazer used fullback while OC at UVA....................

McClain and Leach open up around $4.15 in cap.

Flacco contract is killing that team.

the chance of Monroe hitting the free agent market was always a small one...now, after these moves, its really tiny! Can't see it happening.

The truth is that there will not be any long term LT starters in free agency. Albert is better than McKinnie, but not a long term answer.
The best we can hope for is someone to fill in at reasonable cost until our LT draft pick is up to speed.
We need to draft 4 oline players in this draft, preferably in the middle of the draft. Using the shotgun approach worked for Jimmie Johnson in the late 90's.
A 50% success rate would much better than what Ireland brought to the team.
Start the rookies and go from there.

I haven't looked up the Ravens stuff, but I don't think that he released Leach because of the cap. Not the main reason, anyway. From things I've read previously, he's going in another direction, not wanting to use a FB so much.

13 year veteran, one dimensional FB that is a part of what the NFL used to be
rather than what it is. Lets toss in the fact that he's 32 years old this season,
and he's made his living as a battering ram.

No.
