Mike Sims-Walker, one of the top up-and-coming young receivers finishes with 1 catch for 6 yards!

Last week, Randy Moss finishes with 2 catches for 66 yards (and I'm not even sure if that bomb in the 1st quarter was Davis's fault?) .. Lets not forget the clutch 4th quarter INT that literally saved our season.

His coverage skills are getting better and better each and every week, but the part of Davis's game that I love the most, is his ability to defend against the run...

Perfect example: I think it was a crucial 3rd or 4th down late in todays game and it was a run to the outside with MJD. A mammoth of a guard pulls to lead block for MJD and Vontae Davis slides under the guard and knocks MJD with an insane arm tackle to his legs. Unbelievable. I hope someoe knows which play I'm talking about.

Unfortunately, our other rookie corner is another story.

looks like he's on his way to becoming an elite nfl corner within the next few years. Now if only sean smith could start piecing it together and become a player himself.

doesnt help that your safety sells you out to look like a fool. (Gibril)

look around the league how other rookie CBs with the same amount of exposure as Smith are doing. once you're finished, you'll respect our rookie corners a lot more.

i like sean smith, he moves well for a guy his size and seems to have good ball skills, but he needs to make some plays. He's been a starter now the whole season i believe and he seems to be regressing or staying in neutral, and he isn't covering the #1 recievers, vontae does.

this is his third year ever playing CB and he IS a rookie. a lot of people's expectations are simply too high.

I love Vontae but he bit on the initial inside move Moss made and couldn't recover when Moss turned up and out. Wilson missed as well but shares the blame with Davis.

Davis is playing incredible well and should see DROY in my opinion.

to see improvement over the season is asking too much? perhaps it really sticks out because of the drastic improvement of vontae, but sean smith seems to be the same dude he was week 1 in atlanta at best.

Smith has arguably been better in coverage than Davis. he doesn't produce the big plays, but he's been solid allround. IMO he hit the rookie wall and doesn't play with a lot of confidence right now.

and he looks like he hit that rookie wall, once he fights through it he will be better.

Since we don't move our corners, the other teams repeatedly choose to play their number ones against Vontae and avoid Smith. That should tell you something about who the other teams fear throwing at. Nnamdi Asomugha doesn't make a lot of big plays either because nobody throws at him. I'm not saying he is as good as Nnamdi, but it's the same kind of effect.

Exactly. He came to Utah as a WR in Urban Meyer's spread option.

If memory serves, he played CB and Safety as a sophomore.

Bottom lime; he and Vontae compliment each other well. The phins s/b set @ CB for yrs to come.
