Why is the best corner on the team on punt coverage in a preseason game (or any game). If he got hurt, Sparano might have been fired on the spot. D. Thomas on kickoff's was odd too but not as bad as Vontae
 
Plenty of guys like Ed Reed, DeSean Jackson, and Reggie Bush have been on punt returns. Not a biggie.
 
I don't think this is a great idea. Force this guy to SPRINT 60 yards down field to cover the punt, then the next play have him out there covering a WR who is rested. To me this is just asking for a deep ball to Vonte's side.
 
daniel thomas is on the kickoff team too, some of the decisions this coaching staff makes are so stupid

Just Vontae from what I've seen and yeah I saw Daniel Thomas out there also. Fact is Thomas is a back up RB so that I can understand but to have Vontae is just stupid.
 
There will be injuries. Do you want to use someone who you don't know can contribute or one who in preseason showed he could do it. I'd be suprised he's on the unit at the start of the season.
 
If I remember correctly, Vontae played a bit of special teams last season too..
 
If it wasnt for Vontae running down a man on punt coverage we sould have lost a game last year. I remember he caught up and ran the guy down to save a TD. He is a very good asset on STs. I get the injury argument but he could get hurt just as easily tackling someone. NOW kickoffs are a whole differnt story, but I dont think he does that so whatever.

He did kickoffs last year. Fact is the guy is an athletic freak and a 60 yard sprint is nothing for him.

He is good on special teams............hardly stupid.
