He quitely had an amazing game yesterday! He made some GREAT ST tackles. One to stop Roby from scoring on the kick return, which looked incredibly similar to when Vontae tackled Joe (I think) McKnight when he was in college. He also had a great tackle on the punt return, he was the first guy there and made the tackle. Can't ask for much better there.

I'm incredibly happy we got him. So far, he hasn't been a hot head, he's been happy to share time with Smith, and he's been happy to aid the team in any way he can, and to this point, it's been mainly on special teams. But now, he's going to be asked to start aside Sean Smith. I believe this is the start of another new era back there, occuring the same way our QB change did.

It may not be the prettiest this year, but believe me, they have "bit" as puppies as this Bill likes to say. The bites are only going to get more and more ferocious :hi5:

I completely agree. I remember watching that play, and thinking his catch-up speed is amazing! Vontae is definitely a good talent.

Despite how the year may end up, the future looks bright at tons of positions.
 
Davis took a bad angle and attempted a high tackle on Shockey which was his only mistake... he has talent, now he gets to show it, because of the injury to Allen...

He definitely does, I honestly think his 40 time doesn't do him justice at all. Roby runs a 4.35 or so!

But yeah, if/when Vontae gets beat on say a slant (which will happen, he's not an all-pro yet) at least he'll have the speed to catch up and make the tackle, instead of letting him go for a TD
 
Vontae does play with heart - I'll give him that. He might get burned from time to time as a starter now but I'm excited to see him play.

On another note, can Jason Allen or Tyrone Culver really be any worse than Gibril Wilson at FS? Bell and Wilson are a disaster as a safety duo.
