Vontae Davis

Stat of the night Davis and Smith allowed 2 completions. Benny Sapp should be released after that reaming he received.

Where did you get that stat? I would hope I am wrong here. All I know is I continuously saw 21 chasing a WR all night when he was in. That doesn't mean it was his guy.

But where did you get that stat?

im gonna give in to a jets fan. unreal. because most of the time they have no clue what the hell they are talking about. revis is better. and thats fine. revis is still a bit overrated. but vontae davis needs to shut his mouth and play. what was he thinking? saying that before playing brady? just dumb. 40 time doesnt make revis a better player or a better athlete tho necessarily. and vontae davis didnt get any help. he was still behind in coverage on that first big play to a patriots bench warmer. even tho he was expecting help over the top. so what. stay with your man dummy. the biggest problem i have with these guys is the dehydration. why in the hell are u not prepared for this game against brady? to the point that u are missing plays and backups get torched because u are out of shape to play?? u cant be the best if u cant play. smith got torched too. too lazy to even lean over and touch a tight end that just smoked him from sliding into the end zone even tho the ref made a bad call and ruled he was touched.

our secondary was bad no doubt. and there is blame to go around everywhere. but in a passing league we have 2 corners that can cover. and they arent steady enough. that is ridiculous.

in this game tho. if u go back and look. all tom brady had to do is send his tight end in motion and he knew every single time if we were in zone or man. he knew when he had benny sapp mismatched on a bigger tight end. or more athletic sadly enough when its hernandez. just playing catch at that point. too easy. and thats on nolan. terrible design, and terrible job of gathering talent in the offseason when u know ahead of time u must find guys that can matchup with those tightends if we were ever going to have a chance to beat the pats. nolan and sapp and jones were a joke. and for this glaring mistake so were the coaching staff and front office this offseason. i guess for some reason they thought 9-7 and missing the playoffs was gonna be good enough to keep their jobs. pretty dumb if u ask me.

this is a good team. better than most would ever give them credit. certainly in the top half of the league. maybe even at the bottom of the top 10 teams. maybe when its all said and done better than the jets even. because yes they find a way to win at times. but they are also overrated. the backed into the playoffs 2 years ago. and got lucky enough to advance. id still take last years 14-2 pats. or this years version. the dolphins have more talent. but they might also have more glaring holes. they have upgraded. but i would take rex all day everyday in a game that we needed to win over sparano. so the jets may still end up ahead of us. with 2 guaranteed losses to the pats is it realistic to think we go 9-5 in the rest of the games? thats pretty tough! especially with the brutal schedule again. unfortunately that means this whole thing is getting blown up in the offseason regardless if progress is made or not. and i believe progress will be made.

its just this regime makes too many mistakes. it gets too many small things wrong. why wasnt their roster built to beat the pats in week one? why didnt they have more size in the secondary? and bring in a guy like quintin mickall to play free safety? why wasnt will allen around for this game? and why couldnt they figure out with an entire offseason to prepare that they absolutely had to find a way to disguise coverage against tom brady? i mean shouldnt that be common sense? and if i can go back and presnap figure out if its man or zone u think frickin tom brady is gonna have any trouble? especially with the size/speed mismatches his tight ends create?

we blew this game. we blew this season. and i love the change in philosophy. i love the fact this coach - who make no mistake - was a joke, made the changes he did. if he was in the nfc west, if he was in the afc south, probably half the divisions out there. the dolphins would have a very good year. many pieces are in place, and the coaching staff will finally try to win some games. that i respect. that i applaud them for. this year finally we wont have to be ashamed to be dolfans. but its going to be too little too late. too many small mistakes that created big problems. we were exposed again last night. this team isnt complete and even if henne becomes a top 10 qb. he still wont be elite. we are stuck in mediocrity and its gonna be tough to get out. i just hope that ross makes the right call next year, but considering the fact this guy gets everything else wrong that would be hard to believe. harbaugh was the right guy, but ross blew it.

Did anyone understand any of this....about 20 contradictory statements in this one

Note to Vonte: Are you ever going to make a PLAY? How is it you can run your ****ing mouth yet give up play after play? The first play of the game, was that Vonte chasing? Does Revis need safety help? WTF How can one guy spew so much s*** and never make anything good happen? OK the D was out classed last night...out coached by the no huddle, but where are the so called BIG TIME players....you know the ones that say they are BIG TIME...you know, like Vonte Davis?

Im syill surprised i see many on here still saying davis is better than revis ... Shocking

I can take a player that's overrated by fans and become message board legends, as long as they're humble players that work hard and do the best they can with what they have.

However, what I absolutely CANNOT take are guys that mouth off, when the only thing that ever REALLY stands out about them to me is how overrated they are.

Tom Brady is the best in the business, not you Vontae Davis. Tom Brady is elite, not you Vontae Davis.... Brady doesn't have to go around telling everybody how great he is and come out looking like an idiot.

Miami's "elite duo" of cornerbacks are nothing more than immature kids that are more worried about 'tweeting', running off at the mouth, watching themselves on the jumbotron, and reading their own press clippings. They're a joke.

"Also, I am already missing Crowder. I know Burnett is better. But, this defense NEVER looked as lost and unorganized when Crowder was in the game. Crowder was responsible for the aligments, shifts changes etc.... This defense looked completely lost."
Early days but this was always Crowder's best asset. Despite all of the joking around and arthritic knees of a 60 year old, Channing Crowder was skilled at analyzing offenses and marshalling the defense into position. His tackle count was low, his sack count was non-existent but the ability to read and get his guys in position to react, was big. Burnett will make more tackles, but we need him to lift his game as a general.

only if u cant read i guess. its possible to see improvement and still believe its not enough. its possible to finally have the feeling the team wont be as much of a joke as they have been, and yet still feel ur front office and coaching staff collectively are still somewhat of a joke.

Thats the worst right there, those guys who act like they know football because they hate social networking lol. you are right about vontae and smith being "kids" they are young players, not elite yet, but promising. davis never really mouthed off either, what are you talking about? when he said they were the best tandem? being confident is a good thing, every player should think they are the best in the league. our pass d got roasted but it was against NE on opening day (we all know how good they are opening day and off bye weeks). we held the packers offense to two touchdowns last year and other good offenses with help from davis and smith. its the first game

well for one reason.. it was 14-14 we we last saw vontae and he left with cramps.... what happened after he left? the pats EXPLODED offensively

Oh bull****! They were marching up and down the field all night...with or without Davis in there.

I don't think it takes into account zone coverages...where Smith looked asleep all night!!!

What was an "elite" cornerback doing leaving the field cramping up? I'll tell you why... because he was getting his overrated a** run ragged up and down the field by the Patriots offense... that's why.

I guess he though he could run out there... line up across from some no-name like Matt Slater, and tell him "I'm Vontae Davis and I'm elite", and that was going to get it done...

What was the other half of the "elite duo" doing cramping up? Brady was throwing TD's on Sean Smith when he wasn't cramped up... when he was cramped up, Brady was coming within a foot of throwing TD's on him to Hernandez.. Smith is lucky he even touched Hernandez before he slid into the endzone.

Tom Brady showed 'em what elite looks like...

Revis was cramping up on sunday night...

Revis is elite, Vontae Davis isn't.

Revis made the pick in crunch time to help his team win the game.
Revis is elite, Romo isn't. I could have picked that one off. Everyone gets burned every now and then by a "no name" Revis got toasted by your boy "Ted Slimm" on monday night, still elite.
