I can't imagine the holocaust that will follow when players are no longer honored with this corporate-branded distinction.
Or even worse yet, imagine if the branding on those sponsorships passes to yet another large, faceless corporation which I haven't yet invested myself in emotionally. How will I overcome my loyalty and affection for FedEx, the corporate entity that has sponsored the Air & Ground player of the week for several years now? I don't know if I could feel the same kind of pride in Knowshon's accomplishment if it were to suddenly become, say, the GEICO Ground player of the week award.
I don't want to live in a world where our great bonds of corporate affection and brand loyalty are so easily sundered!
