Vote for the Dolphins

There's already 211,397 votes. The odds of Miami taking first is very slim.

That poll is R E T A R D E D!!! They have Steve Spurrier as a better coach than Bobby Bowden, for some reason that poll is very Gator heavy. Emmitt better that A-Rod, dont get me wrong Emmitt is a great player, but A-Rod is in his own little world.

Obviously they had a GayTour going through Gainsville recently and they made everyone vote for someone with a tie to UF. But this is all they have. We are the ones(UM) with all the rings.

Whats great is that a few years ago I lived in Gainesville, and when UF played FSU in Doak Campbell Stadium and lost I put on every peice of Garnet and Gold that I own.... Almost got into SOOOOOOOO many fights!

Are you kidding? A-Rod better than Emmitt??? Maybe after A-Rod's career is over this can be argued. But for now Emmitt rightly deserves to be #1, his numbers alone vouch for that, add in the way Emmitt went about getting those numbers, the class he always showed on and off the field, and he's by far #1. B

But you are totally right, a whole ton of Gators voted on here. It's obvious when Spurrier is the #1 coach and Urban Meyer (what has he done so far for a Florida team???) is #2.

Yeah but the poll asked for the best home grown product, not best career. Alex is arguably the best in his sport, and may go down as the best ever. Emmitt isnt even the best at his position.

Look, living in Upper Manhattan right now, I can tell you that not all Yankee fans think A-Rod is the best on the team...He hasn't pulled through in the big games when needed. He hasn't done much in the post-season like everyone was hoping so far. Maybe this year it will change for him. I hope. But you're talking about A-Rod like he is the next Babe Ruth or Willie Mays ("may go down as the best ever"???), that's a little too much given...Emmitt's already proven himself, and he's arguably the best in his position...The argument can be made for that, just look at his numbers...and one more thing, "Best Home Grown Product" to me also says take into account the entire athlete, including the way he went about playing the game...Emmitt may have been the best example of this in any sport, and I think Floridians should be more proud to have Emmitt represent their state, given all the above on him, than A-Rod...but whatever...In the end it's just a silly poll...and we all have our opinions, i just think the facts support mine a little better...

Im not going to go down the Emmitt's the best at his position road, because that is a whole different thread. Alex's career average's are .306 with 44 HR and 125 RBI's over a 10 year span, he is a member of the 40/40 club and is without a doubt the most complete player in the league. Oh and hes the youngest player to reach the 400 HR mark at only 30. If he continues on at his career average for the next 5 years he will have over 630 HR's and 1800 RBI's. I have no doubt that he will eventually go down as one of the best to play the game. But you are right opinions are like .........(you know) and they all stink.
