"In 2003 the Miami Dolphins traded for an extra draft pick to take left tackle Wade Smith in the third round of the NFL draft. To get this draft choice, they traded their 2004 second round pick to the New England Patriots. The Patriots then turned around and traded this draft pick to Cincinnati for running back Corey Dillon. This is the difference in the NFL between a winning franchise and a losing franchise. In effect, the Dolphins gave up a running back with 244 yards over the first two games of this season in order to get an offensive lineman who allows more penetration than Jenna Jameson."

The argument is flawed ( when NE traded the pick to CIN we had no idea we'd be needing a RB ) , but the Jenna reference is hilarious.

Good point. But at least it does demonstrate how stupid it is to trade a future 2nd round pick for a current 3rd round pick. Hold on to your damn picks! The idea is to draft as many players a possible, increasing the odds of a few panning out. The Bills and Dolphins haven't learned this yet apparently. You should hope the next regime has.
 
I have to say I thought Wade was almost letting guys fly past him against Cincy. I mean he was not even laying a finger on the DE on a couple plays. Despite all of that training in the offseason against JT he just hasn't gotten better. I don't think he will be back next year unless he is a backup.

While correct, Smith was not the only lineman not blocking. The whole line is terrible.

The argument is perfect. Not only did we give our 2nd round pick away for a bust of a player, we gave it to our worst Division rival who used it to fill their only hole.

Pick for pick. You are the ones who lost a pick not us. What the hell? You contradict yourself.

When he writes in the article "the Dolphins gave up a running back", that to me is a flaw in his argument. Bottom line though as you pointed out, we did give the Pats the pick and they were astute enough to use it wisely. I think that fact should chap the a$$ of Dolfans everywhere.

No, the idea is quality picks, not quantity.

Regardless, the Dolphins made a bad move.

Actually, Jenna Jameson is not the appropriate comparison. I'd go with Houston, who took something like 620 guys in one of her films.
