“It’s going pretty good so far—a good week of practice getting ready for another primetime game under the lights, which is always a lot of fun,” Wake said of this week in an interview with The Finsiders. “I’m looking forward to it.”
As for the potential distraction the national media is talking about, Wake insists the issue won’t get in their way of preparation for Monday night.
“The people who talk about that are more on the outside looking in,” he said. “Football is full of distractions. [Whether] it’s something going on in your home, you forgot to feed your dog, or it’s raining, it’s snowing, it’s hot and you’re tired, the crowd is screaming, you can’t get a call, you’re bleeding—those are all distractions.
“And the way football is set up is, you have to eliminate all those things. It doesn’t matter what’s going on. You have a job and it’s making a tackle, catching a ball—you have to get that job done. Day-to-day, week-to-week, we eliminate those distractions and we go out there and do our jobs. So, we have nothing but professionals in the locker room and I wouldn’t expect anything but that.”
