I believe people saying Wake is poor against the run are just repeating what they have heard instead of looking up his numbers

#1..Wake was in on almost all pass rushing situations and still managed 23 tackles on only 167 defensive snaps

Lets compare Wake to other defensive players

Wake.......23 tackles on 167 snaps...... 7.2 plays per tackle
Jones.......54 tackles on 448 snaps.......8.2 plays per tackle

Wake has the BEST tackle per play ratio when compared to the above defensive players.PLEASE LETS GIVE THE WAKE CANT TACKLE NONSENSE TO SLEEP.

ALMOST 50 OUT OF THE 167 SNAPS WAKE HAS EITHER HAD A SACK,QB PRESSURE OR TACKLE...NO ONE ON THIS TEAM IS EVEN CLOSE TO THAT KIND OF PRODUCTION RATIO...NO ONE
 
I don't see Wake as a starter in 2010. Sorry. That's just my opinion though. He is a situational pass rusher now. He is average against the run and not very good in pass coverage. He needs another offseason and regular season in my opinion to get better in those other areas. He needs to just keep working.
 
ok he has a lot of tackles. yes he is great as a pass rusher and is better than the OLB we have now. but there are a lot of question marks about him now. how can this kid cover? he has alot of work to do in offseason

We agree to disagree...You cant disagree that he has the best ratio of tackles per plays on the defense

It takes porter 18 plays to get a tackle
It takes JT almost 20 plays per tackle
It takes Wake 7 plays per tackle

Almost 1/3 of all plays Wake is in on he produces
a sack,tackle ,or QB pressure

PLEASE FIND ME ONE PLAYER ON THIS DEFENSE THAT
MAKES A PLAY ON ALMOST 1/3 OF THE PLAYS
I will await your answer or anyone else's

Porter is more or less a pure pass rusher as well, but yet he starts. What makes him any better then Wake in rushing the passer??? He can run down a rusher 5 yards after the fact just like Porter.

nobody said he wasnt better than the players starting for us now. but there are more complete players available that we could get. trust me i love this kid and if he shows he can cover i would be all for him starting. we will just have to wait and see

What better way to answer the questions about him then letting him play. I have to say I'm getting pretty tired of this Patrick Turner approach to things. Kory Sheets should have seen the field before the last week of the season too.

i agree. i would love to have seen Sheets at least returning. but for wake i think the FO wanted to wait until the offseason to evaluate him. i really think it has to do with the fact that his name is Joey Porter than talent honestly. benching the leader of the defense and a leader of the team for wake. not saying i agree with it just saying that might be it
 
I really don't see why he wouldn't be good in coverage either.... He is by far the fastest and most athletic LB we have. He CAN'T be any worse at coverage than the ones we already had starting. I also did see him make some nice plays againts the run this season, the guy is just a player IMO.

I hate the thought of it but I have to agree with this. This coaching staff just seems to stick with players they like no matter how bad they perform. Porter, Wilson, Cobbs, etc...

Ginn I could somewhat understand because he is the only deep threat on the team, and they did severley reduce his role but I can't think of a single excuse for Wilson, or even Porter with how Wake looked when he got into the games. Cobbs as a KR was just a head scratcher too, idk why they loved him so much.

yeah thats true about ginn. and im just not sure with gibril and if henning and PP aren't replaced i will add them to my list of head scratchers
