The Dolphins were really lucky last year. Had Tom Brady stayed healthy, they wouldn't have made the playoffs. Had Brett Favre not self-destructed in the final few weeks, you could also make the case that Miami would have missed out on the postseason.

But the Dolphins did make the playoffs, which in turn exposed their weaknesses - the quarterback position and their pass rush. Chad Pennington doesn't have the arm strength to consistently beat tough defenses, while the two players asked to get to the opposing passers will be 32 and 35 during the 2009 campaign. Throw in a tougher schedule, and I can't see Miami getting back to the playoffs.

As soon as he wrote Thomas hurt his bicep muscle I read no more. If you are truly going to analyze a team you should know the team. Another attempt to make Miami look bad.

Bills, Broncos, Seahawks, Raiders, Patriots, Rams, Bills, 49ers, Chiefs, Jets.....These teams except for the 49er's, Chiefs, and Raiders were nearly playoff teams but yet Miami beat them..This writer needs to study more on football and quit being a armchair football writer...Who says the Falcons,Colts and Chargers are gonna be that much better this year...I can't stand these negative writers against the Dolphins and predict another playoff appearance.

I must admit though I take what most beat writers choose to regurgitate as 'analysis' when it comes to the Phins with a LARGE grain of salt... this one stuck in my craw.

In particular I LOATHE the use of the word 'LUCKY'. In a single stroke that one word attempts to diminish ALL of the seasons accomplishments and a record breaking turnaround from 1-15 the year prior. It is inflammatory to make such a ludicrous assumption and reveals this 'analysis' for what it is... nothing more than baseless inciting drivel.

The season is 16 games and regardless of your schedule... 'luck' only plays a miniscule role in your season record... In today's NFL with the parity that exists... You have GOT TO BE GOOD TO WIN. There are only a handful of terrible teams and if you look past anyone on sunday you do it at your own peril. To further insinuate that Tom Brady is the single greatest component to reaching the playoffs... A player not even on the Phins roster... Demonstrates the agenda here. Ludicrous.

I can only imagine what Parcells or Sparano would do to you if you had the gall to say to their face 'The Dolphins were really lucky last year' it is insulting and disrespectful and in a face to face situation would most likely be greeted with a smash in the mouth which is their favorite style of football anyway.

What gets me is these are the teams NE lost to last year..

Mia 38-13
SD 30-10
Indy 18-15
NYJ 34-30
Pitt 33-10

Even with Brady, I don't think those 5 losts change. By the SD game Cassell was playing good football... We Beat SD, NYJ beat them at the end of the season and we beat the Jets at the end of the season..

Pitts for them was Balt for us.
Indy for them was NE for us.

We played basically the same teams last year...that should have said to the world we've improve if anything..and the fact we play basically the same schedule this year, says we'll be 5-11 and the Pats 13-3...come on..

who cares what these so called experts have to say!
the way i see it is, the less respect the Dolphins get the more hungry the team will be.
we'll see how it all shapes out soon enough.

Forget him....I don't like his stuff anyway. If my aunt had a pair of balls she would be my uncle!!!!

slosh, slosh, splash, splash, everyone hear that, that is the sound of gasoline being added to an already raging fire, This season is going to be extremely gratifying I CANT WAIT.
Go Dolphins!!!

It just shows a fundamental lack of football knowledge...or it's just some blowhard writing a 'review' on a team he hasn't researched. Probably a little of both.

The Dolphins are doing it the right way. Instead of blowing their load on an overrated receiver (ahem...Bills) or some other flashy name they're bolstering the core of the team. 2 straight offseasons of building the offensive line will pay its dividends. But because we didn't break the bank on a WR we won't be any good. LOL

These morons need to stick to Madden. That's the type of football they like. Leave real football to real fans.
