I'm not sold on Jimmy Claussen. Jake Locker- surprising quickness and speed, solid arm. I've only seen a bit but I was impressed, I need to see more. I'd take Locker over Claussen at this point. I hope that Bradford didn't blow $50 million with that shoulder- you're talking multiple generations of his family potentially effected by that situation. I'm not as high on him as some, but he does have great size, production, and is extremely accurate.

Dolphins- Spikes is tempting, but I have a hard time seeing them passing on Dez Bryant and Aurelius Benn. I'm locked into the template of the big, strong, fast go-to receiver that imo is so needed by us. It's probably a reaction to the Ginn situation- he brings speed no doubt but I don't think that he's really what the FO is looking for- dude is too frail and passive. I don't take that much heed in the "Parcells doesn't draft WR's #1" theory- we have a huge need that can be filled- fill it. Just my opinion.

Brandon Lafell- I like him, but as good as he is, he seems to be a bit below Bryant and Benn to me. Not the same strength and sense of dominance- that's my impression so far. Any Illinois fans out there, bring on the Benn opinions. I'm beginning to focus on him as I did Mack and Harvin last year, I find him very intriguing. Is he smart, disciplined, dedicated? bring it on.

I'm not so sure that Terrence Cody is an upgrade over Solia- it will be good to see some more 'Bama football this year- esp Tide/Gators to see Cody, Mclain, Haden, Tebow, etc. I want to get a better look at Riley Cooper, too.

Not bad. And I would love Brandon Spikes. But I'm not so sure he'd fall to #21? Either way, I'd be stoked if we got Spikes/McClain.
 
Walter Football is one of my favorite sites on the net. In terms of the draft I feel like the Dolphins are focused on four positions..

*Middle/Inside Linebacker
*Wide Receiver
*Nose Tackle
*Outside Linebacker

Lucky for us this draft is loaded with these positions.

Channing Crowder and Akin Ayodele are solid players but we need a play-maker in the middle. Rolando McClain is exactly what we are looking for. Very smart, plays sideline to sideline, can make big plays, and has great size. Brandon Spikes also fits the mold in terms of size and is a thumper in the middle with above average pass rushing ability for a Inside Linebacker. Either of these guys would be a major upgrade. The talent doesn't stop there are as there is Sean Weatherspoon out of Missouri who could convert from an Outside Linebacker in a 4-3 defense to an Inside Linebacker in a 3-4; Weatherspoon defines the adjective of "tackling machine". Other players worth watching are Micah Johnson out of Kentucky, Joe Pawelek out of Baylor, and Daryl Washington out of TCU

The Wide Receiver Class is loaded this year with Dez Bryant out of Oklahoma State, Arrelious Benn out of Illinois, and Damien Williams all being 1st Round picks who could turn into game-changing #1 receivers. Keep an eye on Brandon LaFell of LSU, Demaryius Thomas of Georgia Tech, Golden Tate of Notre Dame, Jordan Shipley of Texas, Eric Decker of Minnesota, Desmond Briscoe of Kansas, Mike Williams of Syracuse, and Mardy Gilyard of Cincinatti; all of the above listed players will have a hard time lasting past Round 3. Keep an eye on Dexter McCluster out of Mississippi and Brandon Baks out of Kansas State

Nose Tackle is a position we need to really pay attention to. Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy will be long gone when it's our time on the clock. Arthur Jones of Syracuse is an interesting prospect; Boo Robinson of Wake Forest and Dan Williams of Tennessee's are guys I like in Round 3-4 range.

This draft is loaded with Pas Rushing Outside Linebackers such as Sergio Kindle-Texas, Jerry Hughes-TCU, George Selvie-South Florida, Brandon Lang-Troy, Ricky Sapp-Clemson, Eric Norwood-South Carolina, Greg Hardy-Mississippi, Corey Wotton-Northwestern, and AustoN English -Oklahoma are guys that stand out. Hughes is my favorite as he simply gets to the Quarterbacks and his stats support that.
 
A player to keep an eye on is Javier Arenas out of Alabama in Round 3-4 range. He would add depth to our corner position with Nate Jones ageing and Jason Allen constantly on the roster bubble. He could be a Dime-back as a rookie and when Will Allen departed he could move to Nickel-Back. Also, Arenas is lethal as a Kick/Punt returner which is a position that Dolphins need to upgrade desperatly.
 
I believe, that Spikes will fall in round 1 ... there are too many draft reports that are stating his lack of coverage ability and foot speed... there is no doubting his prowess in run support and his blitz ability... if Miami, continues to win and picks in the 2nd 1/2 of round #1... obviously Spikes could be a target... Mike Williams the WR out of Syracuse also becomes an option ... he reminds me of Marvin Harrison in the fact that he is still a relatively unknown and under rated prospect ... Marvin Austin the DT/NT from North Carolina... could also be given consideration as well ... BUT if Miami faulters and picks in the 1st 1/2 of round #1 ... Rolando Mclain will almost certainly be given strong consideration he is far and away the best coverage ILB in this draft ... He has STUD written all over him... i've been on the Mike Williams Band Wagon and will be rooting for him ... just my personal preferance... he's 6'2" 205lbs and 4.4 speed and great hands!!! just what the doctor ordered in Miami!!!!
 
I like that Draft, but instead of a S I would much prefer a NT prospect. Of course, it's not about what I prefer. It's what the Trifecta prefers.
 
I would hope we would take Golden Tate if he is still there in the second round instead of Sergio Kindle
 
Golden Tate will be their in Round 2. I know he has played out of this world this season but the truth is that there are a lot of better options such as Eric Decker, Mike Williams, Dez Bryant, Arrelious Benn, Mardy Gilyard, Damien Williams, and Brandon LaFell. I think Tate falls to Round 3 but I don't see him as the receiver we are looking for.

Let's not forget about free agency to look at needs as well. Vince Wilfork is a free agent and the Patriots don't like giving out big contracts; They also drafted Ron Brace in Round 2 od last years' draft to eventually replace Wilfork. In terms of Wide Receivers players such as Miles Austin and Vicent Jackson should be high on our list. Parcells is known to really like Miles Austin. But keep an eye on another Charger Wide Receiver in Malcolm Floyd who seems like he could be a big-play receiver.
 
Golden Tate should be a phin! Benn and Byrant are better. But i honestly see Tate as the next best.
 
Man if we pick at 21 and Bryant, Benn, Spiller, Best and Dwyer are available . . . I don't know if we go with Spikes, though we definitely need to do something at ILB. No question about it.

The guy has to be a Patriots fan . . . he gives them Dez Bryant, Jonathan Dwyer, Jerry Hughes, and gives them the best running blocking Guard in the draft in Mike Johnson . . . all in the first 2 rounds . . . all I can say is WOW.

That is like my dream first 3 picks lol, but yea, we still need a ILB tho.

No WR in the first round. It think DW is the only first round talent, and because of his maturity issues and agent, I hope we pass on him.

Its got to be the best defensive player. Selvie, McClain, Spikes...we need a difference maker on defense.

RD, I think you have as good a read on this team as anyone that I have seen...seriously.

I think your analysis on our needs are spot on. And, because of "our" limited exposure to these college players, I think you have good prospect lists.

I doubt this FO tries to get "cute"...it will take good players who can develop for us. I am big time on the Rolando McClain Bandwagon, but we'll see what happens.

Are you assuming that Dez Bryant and Aurelius Benn don't come out? If you're looking for a difference maker on defense, ILB historically isn't the place to look. I like Spikes, but I think that there's merit to the Rey Maluaga argument- if he can drop to the 2nd round that should tell you something.

If Bryant or Benn are there in the 1st rd I'm taking them, as I've said many times before I'm still undecided on Lafell. Benn looks fast as hell and quick, too, good out of his breaks. His hands seem good. Great size and muscle tone as well. Bryant is slower but just a monster- Boldin isn't the fastest guy and Michael Irvin wasn't either. Go-to guy doesn't mean just speed, another example is Keyshawn Johnson. It's size, strength, ability to catch the ball very well, clutch play, the desire to be the guy. It goes back to what defines a #1 WR. 4th quarter 3rd and 8 down by 4- who are you throwing to? We won't always have the luxury of pounding away with R&R, the wildcat, that great OL- sometimes you need the passing game to step up. That's obviously why the Vikings got Favre. And Sidney Rice is stepping up, Harvin started strong, but we'll see what happens there. I'm still a big fan.

We need a step up WR, bottom line. More than the average pack of Bess, Hartline, Camarillo. Ginn showed a spark thank God, but that's not enough. If a deep threat decoy is good enough for you that's fine. Not for me. I'd rather go WR #1 and then maybe S and ILB in rds 2-3.
