WalterFootball.com -- Day 1 winners & losers -- Yup, Dolphins are losers

So, the Dolphins are losers for drafting for need and Detroit, Dallas, and KC are losers for not drafting for need????

No, the Dolphins are losers for drafting a 2nd-3rd round talent in the middle of the first round. So when are we all chipping in to rent a plane to fly a "Fire Hickey" banner over the stadium?

He's a first round talent buddy do research

I don't understand how they can be considered draft losers by drafting a player they had a first round grade on... I'm very critical of this organization as a whole throughout the years but I do feel I understand how teams go through the draft in prospecting players. They were in love with this player, felt he was a top OL prospect in this year's draft and graded him very highly. So how was he a reach? I would have loved a sexy pic as well, but we all knew going into the draft that what this team needed was an infusion of talent on the offensive line...bar none. At the end of the day, we just have to see how this all plays out.

Armchair GM's are the losers. And it's obvious very few if any on this forum come anywhere close to gathering the amount of research a NFL personnel department does.

if you were the GM, who would you have picked?

One of 2 things:

#1. Stayed put and drafted HaHa Clinton Dix, who by most accounts was talented enough to have been a top 10 pick and nobody would have thought twice about it. This also would have filled a position of need. Could have figured out the RT spot in the 2nd round. There was a possibility that JuWuan James would have still been there for us in 2nd round. Maybe work out a trade to move up in 2nd round to get him if he was really the guy.

#2. Traded back, aquired another pick, and still gotten JuWuan James. Still would've been a reach, but at least it wouldn't have been as terrible. By all reports, trade offers were made, and teams just behind us did trade back, so that pretty much confirms the reports.

Anything but what was actually done. To draft a 2nd round talent in the middle of the first round is silly. The fact that it was in the middle of the first round and not the end of the first round makes it very hard to stomach.

Hickey's first draft pick lacked any sort of creativity, intelligence, or experience in working a draft. It reeked of desperation, panic, and stupidity.

3rd round talent huh? Man people really speak out of their asses here don't they?

LOL!!! He is not a first-round talent. I did my research. Looks like you haven't though. He is ranked anywhere from 55th best player to 80th best player depending on who is doing the rankings. And this from people at NFL Network and ESPN, not some rinky-dink draft website.

Looks like we would have been losers taking Zach Martin too, which most people and "experts" would have loved for us to pick. So really who gives a **** what a site with terrible mock drafts has to say about our pick

Rated by who? I doubt the dolphins had him rated as the 56 -80th best player and many teams pass on the higher "Rated" player to take a player they need. One that the coaching staff has a clear vision for that can start from day 1. Unlike the Jordon pick last year where he might have been the highest rated player but wasn't necessarily a need and he ddin't start. This staff does not have that luxury so i get the pick, I just philosophically don't like drafting lineman in the first round if they don't play LT

As soon as I saw the headline, I knew the Dolphins were on the losers list. Pretty obvious.

I went to sleep furious, and woke up furious. New GM, same stupidity. I don't get it.

Dallas selecting Zack Martin is on that list and he's the guy most everyone wanted on here. So even if Miami drafted him instead they'd still be a "loser".

Umm, Walter football mocked James to us...in the first. So, there opinion has zero credibility.

They also had Bortles going 20, Derek Carr going to Minnesota and a plethora of other instances of being wrong.
