Miami Dolphins: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State

It would be a mistake for the Dolphins to go into the 2015 season with Cortland Finnegan as a starter for another year. They really have nothing outside of Brent Grimes at the cornerback position, as the players they drafted back in 2013 (Will Davis, Jamar Taylor) haven't developed. And besides, Grimes, 32 in July, will have to be replaced soon.

Trae Waynes was the most impressive cornerback at the NFL Combine, and he could sneak into the top 10. The problem for him is that there are so many blue-chip edge rushers available, so that could push him down into the 14th spot. It wouldn't surprise me if Waynes went as high as No. 6 to the Jets, however.

Miami Dolphins: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota

Charles Clay is a free agent who will command lots of money on the open market, so the Dolphins will probably have to bring in a new tight end. Maxx Williams didn't have a strong Combine, but the middle of the second round is the right range for him.

This would all change if Clay resigns with us.

I just saw this no, and I couldnt disagree more. As of today we MUST go WR #1, DT #2 and then worry about LB/G/CB.

Wouldn't be unhappy but would have preferred Parker in the first and Carl Davis in the second out of the guys available.

I think its 50/50 or less that Trae Waynes is still there at 14....his 4.35 at the combine likely shot him into the top ten.

I would love to draft him now, but doubt he'll be there.

I really like the way he adjusts to the ball in the air.

Unless we sign a free agent receiver or two.....I do think receiver will be a round one interest, but there will be players at receiver in round two as well.

It really depends on how free agency goes now....that will dictate the draft in my eyes.

We have so many needs.....it just rides on what we sign beforehand.

I really think we should go after Davis Harris as a stop gap Mike to eliminate that from the top draft needs......Orlando Franklin will eliminate the necessity to go O-line in the top rounds.

We then could focus on Wide receiver, Corner or DT in the first two days.

Holliman is interesting in the third. If he could tackle, Holliman would be in the 1st round. His ball skills are amazing and I think he'll make game-changing plays. He will also miss tackles so that is a concern. I think in the 3rd that's a pretty nice pick, though. I'm also keeping an eye on Josh Shaw, who I think is getting seriously underrated at this time. Shaw could be in that 3rd round range.

I met Carl Davis yesterday. I live in Iowa City. Big boy.

Round 1...Parker not Waynes. Would have both DB Collins in front of Waynes
Round 2...Bennett the DT from LSU over Williams. TE inst a need.
Round 3...holliman would be fine at 3.
Round 4...miller from Louisville at guard.

Thays based on that draft

Ignoring o
line for 5 rounds, that's a sure losing prop.
We have no depth at all and no guards worth a damn but this mock has us ignoring online all together.

agreed. 3 DBs in the first 5 picks is a bit rich for me. could use one of the mid-round picks on a G

Unless Trae greatly improves his shuttle and 3 cone at his pro day, I wouldn't Even think of putting him in our system.

His fast 40 time doesn't even come close to making up for how bad he did in those drills.

I agree with your free agent strategy. Would love to find quality starters at ILB and OG heading into the draft. If the team can't solve the ILB position prior to the draft, a good strategy might be to trade down 5-7 spots and draft Eric Kendricks. He is one of the few ILB's in the draft who can cover the pass. I do think the team can find a starting guard in R2 or R3, but I'd rather have a veteran there.

his time results werent the best.... but in the drills he didnt look bad. smoother hips than i expected, and yes he needs work on his footwork, but that was more expected. i was impressed his hips were that fluent. it was what i was looking for after watching all the tape. The film also shows what he can do on the field... which is cover long and cover well, which is be aggressive at the ball with great ball skills, a lot of talent there. but as always things to work on.

he will be working on all those drills, and footwork, and backpedaling and hips too up until his pro day, probably has started already. we will see for improvements there!!!
