By the time a couple of years have rolled past and we have fixed all the problems on offense, our D will be too old and the likes of Zack And Jason Taylor will be on their way out - So we will end up with a good O and no D!

DAMMN!

Zach and JT have another 3 years left in the tank. If we build up our offense properly and fix the secondary. By the time they are on their way out we'll be fill their positions, hopefully with talent. I wish we woulda been able to keep Ogunleye.

i dunno man im starting to think that Zach is getting past his prime and lately the only time you hear his name is when he's getting burnt in pass coverage...it sucks to admit but i think its starting to become a reality.

Zach is slowing down but he is still the key to our defense, he calls the plays on the field and he leads

i love zach and i want him here as long as he can play, but he is no longer a star. he has noticeably slowed down this year. no more explosion

We have a lot of old guys on defense and we need a major infusion of talented youth on that side of the ball. Here's the ages of the guys when the 2007 season rolls around:

Keith Traylor- 38
Jeff Zgonina- 37
Zach Thomas- 34
Kevin Carter- 34
Dan Wilkinson- 34
Jason Taylor- 33
Vonnie Holliday- 31
Donnie Spragan- 31

6 of those guys are defensive linemen so that is a must that we get some younger guys at those positions. Even Olindo Mare will be 34.

He's been drafting 2-3 D-lineman a yr. What else can he do

Yes he has but the young guys have to start stepping up!! Manny Wright left camp and who knows if he'll be back next season, Kevin Vickerson hasn't done anything yet, Fred Evans (who knows how he'll turn out since he's on the inactive list every week), Matt Roth (jury is still out on him), Rod Wright (next season will actually be his rookie season). So some of these aforementioned d-linemen need to step up and be counted next season. It's pertinent to our success that they do!!!

Zach is clearly going down hill and he's very mediocre in this defense. When you watch a lot of NFL games you see a ton of LB's making big plays - the kind Zach used to make - and I'd put 10 MLB's ahead of him right now. He is slow in pass coverage and he cannot blitz. His style of play is not fitting the majority of NFL defenses. He doesn't, as coaches like to say, "play downhill" anymore.

JT is also losing a bit of quickness. That quickness has cost him dearly. He has one rush - speed rush from the outside. He can put an occasional move on a lineman, but, the good pass blocking OT's handle him most of the game. They either stop him straight up or, if he rushes to the outside they just push him too deep - outside the pocket.

These two have been the face of what is good for the Dolphins for the past decade, but they are down hill. They are no longer the type who can carry a team. If JT is on a team where the rest of the defense is stellar - he could still do some damage for a few more years. But, these two could easily be replaced in a year or two.

We need LB's that are big, fast, and can penetrate behind the line of scrimmage. It's not just about making a tackle for a 3 yard gain. The top defenses today are blowing up offenses on key plays. Even then, teams are going to score points.

This is not dissing Zach. I've loved to watch him play, but he's just not making the game breaking plays he used to. He's solid, but we need a wrecking crew on defense that creates turnovers.

It's been reported ZT bulked up in order to better fit in with Saban "bigger in better" philosophy on defense.

Doing so he lost what quickness he had left. I'm guessing this is ZT last year on the team.
