Wanny a candidate to replace Cowher ?

At this time the steelers interviewed about a dozen candidates for the job,including Pitt head coach Dave Wannstedt,one of the two finalist for the position that Mr. Cowher landed after long time coach Chuck Knoll retired.



The Rooneys sure like coaches with pornstache.
 
Wow. I know alot of people on here really want Wanny back as HC, but I just can't see how anyone would consider the guy as HC in the NFL.

I'd be really surprised if it was Wannstedt. The Rooneys have picked guys with a bit more hard-edged personality than Wannstedt in the past. They also like guys that are under 40, in keeping with their desire to have somebody stay 15 years.

He does have history with the Steelers though, so I guess it's possible.
 
He's a Pittsburgh guy, and despite his shortcomings is very well liked around the NFL.

I'd still be surprised if he got the job, but if he did they'd better have a strong GM in place.

We would love Pornstache back as HC, but not the Dolphin's HC. :lol:

Good, they can have Wannstedt. Just give us Ken Whisenhunt to take over our team IF Saban leaves!
 
If he is hired it should only be as a figurehead HC.

Dont let him have anything to do with the draft,player adquisicion or re-negotiating contracts.

The Steelers need to make an effort to sign the best punter in the NFL.

It would behoove them to get an assistant coach who is good at game planning and second half adjustments.

On second thought why would they WANT to have him as a HC ?

Sarcasm. And no, I can't find even 1 on here that would want him back. I hope.
 
I am a long time dolphin fan and yes I would take Wanstadt back if Saban was to leave. All Wanny did wrong was stay with Feildler too long and never develop a new identity at QB. He lost because he put too much into the offense based on Ricky and never developed a QB. A couple questionable draft picks, so does every coach. A gooD defensive scheeme, good play calling, i remember being a playoff team with him. Maybe not a superbowl team, but a good team. I trust Saban will get us back there in time if he stays, but if he goes than why not Wanny. And see what he can do with daunte and Brown, Top 10 drafting order, and some youth as well as the core he lft on D.
