i can believe saban just straight up lied like that i guess money has total influence over all, and dont tell me its his love for the college game he wasnt even considering it til bama said he will be the highest paid coach in college football. eveny wanny stayed through thick and thin til he basically got "kicked out" by everyone. now we have no QB, jt and zt may be leaving and now we have no coaching staff what so ever save dom capers, what else will go wrong???

If the last part of your statement is true, then how can you say with any degree of certainty that he "lied?"

Wanny stayed for as long as he did for one reason and one reason only: No other NFL coach wanted him...as is evidenced by the fact that he's at his alma mater right now.

I agree about Wannstedt. The two supposedly high-profile can't-miss guys Wayne has hired have stabbed him in the back and quit on him while Wanny at least stuck with things and even turned down a UM job to see things through with the Dolphins.

Was he a great coach, no. But at least he was honest about his work and put forth the best effort he could for the organization.

saban now takes over as the most hated coach in Dolphins history.

Nah, you can never out do Jimmy Johnson's disappearing act after the last game he coached, or the leaving the team in the middle of the season of Wanny.

Football is a business and Saban knows that more than any of us. He has to do what's best for the future of his family, and can't afford to loose more stock next year if he can't finally turn it around.

well its easy to see he lied remember saban preaching
saban: "theres absolutly no was im leaving im here to stay no matter what through thick and thin blah blah blah end of discussion"

alabama: "well make you the highest paid coach in football"

saban: "and where do i sign?"

Yes you can out do it, saban already did. This wasn't about family. This was about himself. He was a coward and he choked in the NFL. He couldn't handle it so he went back to where he belonged and that's college. I have no respect for him and I hope he fails.

Nope. Saban tops them. Easily.

His family's future? I think they could have squeaked by on 25 million. Not being a lying coward would have been the best thing for his family.

the future of his family? the man makes damn near more money in one year than most of us will make it in our lives and our families are fine so dont give me that

jimmy did more for our team than any other coach besides shula he earned his worth down to this day just from his defensive drafts alone.

Unless you are a mind reader, there is no way of knowing with any degree of certainty whether or not he meant what he said when he was asked about the Alabama job. Obviously one can choose to believe otherwise...

I liked Saban a lot, and wished he would have stayed.....but he has now lost all respect from me. The mere mention of his name will make me angry after today.

I thought the guy had little integrity to begin with. Now I know he has none. I've taken some abuse on the LSU forum for not liking the man much after he left LSU the way he did, waiting until he was in Orlando for the bowl game until making an announcement. I forgave him a bit because he went to coach my favorite pro team. Now I understand his family has a lot to say in his decision. I touched on that in some of my comments here but I was thinking he wouldn't leave because of them. Now the rumor is maybe they were not happy in Miami. I know it was a tough decision to leave Baton Rouge because his family didn't want to go. Now that he has made the decision it goes to show that if mama ain't happy, nobody is. Still doesn't make it right and he is now the most hated man in Baton Rouge right now. Should be real interesting when Bama visits Tiger Stadium.
