Here are his stats vs the the opponents. They had a lot more attempts inside 30 yards than Sturgis. Sturgis made a higher percentage of kicks in the 30-39 yard range and a higher percentage in the 40-49 yard range. The problem was he was ineffective at 50+ and didn't have as many tries inside 30 yards.

You miss 1 under 40 you suck! He missed 2. Enough said...

That's not true. Adam Vinatieri is a pretty decent kicker and he's only failed to miss at least 1 twice. He's also missed 5 twice.

Sturgis seems to be quite streaky in general and poor in long distance kicks.

This is the problem, if you spend a fifth rounder on a kicker he better be able to kick consistently and hit some shots that lesser kickers don't - he doesn't have to hit all 50+ yarders, but 3-7 is complete dogcrap

You give him another year, he falters you pick up another guy off the scrap heap. Those #'s are interesting.

I'm sure he'll get an opportunity, but I see nothing wrong with bringing in a veteran if for no reason to see how hard he works in this offseason - I just want a fire lit under his ass, because being a kicker on a team that struggles to put opponents away can be very stressful - either he has it, or he doesn't IMO

Inconsistent rookie..shocking
