Lets see...

The Saints gave up their entire draft in 1999. Plus a 1st and 3rd in 2000.

Miami gave up 2 first round picks.

Sure he led the league in rushing at one time...but I doubt any player at any position could live up to the sum of picks Ricky was traded for.

Yes it was worth it. He came in, played his *** off for us in the time that he was here. Him retiring/quiting on us right before training camp was just an event in a series of events that enabled us to get rid of Dave Wansted and bring in Nick Saban. The two first round picks still makes me angry when i think about but with all that came out it i'm pretty happy.

Ricky was not worth the picks in hindsight but if it had not been for this last yearlong suspension i would have to disagree. Ricky was one of the most accomplished college runners of all time and had the skill set to become an NFL great. He was put into a bad situation in New Orleans and when he came to Miami i expected him to change his career. Things went well until Wanny ran him into the ground and Ricky had personal problems. His ensuing retirement abolished all hopes of a successful, full career but he was still worth the picks when he came back until just recently. Now i reluctantly agree he was not worth the picks miami traded

hindsight......he wasn't even close to worth anything anyone gave up for him.

He is a druggie, a joke, and someone who will never be allowed to play in the league ever again (ie Onterio Smith). We never made the playoffs ONCE with him and he didn't make us better.

Your going to blame an entire team's play and a coaching staff on one player??? U have to be kidding me! We had no QB whatsoever and our head coach/OC sucked big ones. If it had not been for Williams we probably would have Carson Palmer right now (not meaning that in a good way). Do not blame the best player on the team for the team's success or failure, its the sum of all the parts that make the team

Ok, and that's his fault? I agree with most of the statements in your post but it's not because of him that we didn't make the playoffs. Give credit where credit is due, Ricky was the offense for us and Wanny is why we didn't make the playoffs.

Please, give me a break.

You can't seriously be trying to spin Ricky's quitting into something positive.
Thats like getting mugged and then saying the mugger was a great guy because you met a pretty nurse in the hospital while recovering from the beating the mugger gave you.

No he his not worth it. He cost 2 HC and 2 GM their jobs.

Of course No player in the history of the League has been worth that many picks (Except maybe Walter Payton). Ricky is like some other pro athletes these days concerned about only themselves. Ask yourself if you and your family were reliant on your job to get by and you had to abide by a set of rules, which most of us do, wouldn't you make sure you followed those rules to keep your family taken care of? Ricky has 3 or 4 kids and forget about all the disappointed fans, these are the people he really let down.

No way was he worth it. 2 first round picks, the team never makes the playoffs with him, and he plays 12 games in three seasons. Oh, and as long as he is on the team he has a suspension hanging over his head for drugs which he has already proven he can't avoid, whether through ignorance of the rules or indifference to them.

ricky was worth it because when he walked away from the 2004 season, he took wanny with him, Praise the Lord

I use to respect your opinion at one time. Today, that seems like a long time ago....

PHINZ RULE!!

Let's not forget that we got Randy McMichael in that trade too. The first year we gave our 1st Rd (Charles Grant, DE, I think Saints drafted) plus 4th round (CB Keyou Craver Saints drafted) and we got Ricky AND Randy McMichael. Ofcourse, based on Ricky's production we ended up giving another 1st rd pick to Saints.

No way Ricky was worth 2 first round picks, no matter what actually happened. Spielman and Wannidiot thought Ricky was the last piece, but they neglected to realize they had no QB. I wouldn't give you a 7th rounder for Ricky, even though I was a big fan of his.

In Saban We Trust!
