Just question,

When I saw Henne driving down the field during our last possession I could not help but think to my self that this guy should have started the whole game.

Then one of the guys sitting at the table said, "Well Arizona is just playing prevent defense right now. They are going to give up the 5 to 10 yard plays to keep the clock running and prevent a big play. If he was in from the beginning he would look as bad if not worse then penny bc Arizona would be throwing guys at him."

So I can't help but wonder, if the Henne drive was only successful because Arizona was playing a prevent defense, are we not jumping the gun a bit with the arguments that Henne should start?

This wasn't a true prevent defense. There was some blitzing and it was obvious the Cardinals did not want us to score.

Henne also just throws a better ball out there.... was nice to see the dolphins driving...regardless of what point in the game....

For a non divison, non conference team, the Cards wanted to beat us bad. They were not letting us have anything.

they could of easily beat us by more if they wanted to, they let up a lot of offense, but of course, defenses dont let up, and shouldnt.

also, anyone that says he was playing just agaisnt a normal prevent and they let him score are idiots.

Cool, so Henne was playing against a blitzing D and he still did good. i saw the highlites, and he looked so calm and collected it was unbelievable. But i thought he was playing against the prevent D. Glad to hear he wasnt and still did great

I dunno if it was prevent defense or not. But I did see him zip that ball inbetween two and three defenders. Something Penny couldn't do. So take it for what it's worth. But he made throws Penny couldn't

I saw this 5 year old running all over these 2 year olds on the playground and i was like "wow he should be starting for an nfl team" we should draft him now or fire sparano and burn pennington yes. thats it.

There were 2nd and 3rd stringers on th field for jags and they werent in a prevent but in a dime package.

also call me an idiot. I'm a biopsychology and behavioral neuroscience major out of rutgers university, I also was recruited fr football! imagine that. please attack us more =) what do you do?

Whether it was prevent or not, what I did see was a QB that had some zip to his throw and good poise. It's not like this is preseason - he wasn't exactly going up against scrubs out there. He even got hit pretty hard from behind on a defensive offsides play and he just got back up and kept going like nothing happened. BTW - he should've had his 1st touchdown pass yesterday (but Brown dropped the pass :shakeno:).

I for one wouldn't mind seeing Henne start the next game.

it was garbage time! just look how everyone was on matt ryans jock after one good week and how he looked like a rookie yesterday it won't matter who our qb is if the d sucks that bad every week

im nappy ****in roots. doesnt matter what i do, what i do KNOW though is that we played the cardinals and not the jags

I disagree they let up, Miami's D played better then the score shows. We didn't give up a 100 yards on the ground even though they ran the ball 30 times or more, TS said in his PC that we only gave up 2 plays on the ground of more then 10 yards. He said other then those 2 runs the Cards had less then a 2 ypc avg. I think Miami focused on stopping the run and their passing game was burned. It's not an exucuse, it's just IMO what they did.

Yes, it was deceptive. For a number of reasons:

  • The defense was not going to get a shutout, so it let up a little.
  • The defense did not prepare for Henne, so they will not break on passes as decisively as if he were the starter.
  • The defense was not expecting Henne to energize the receivers.
  • The defense was not expecting his are strength.
None of the points above change the fact that Henne did well in his first action. Do not fool yourself. The two minute offense is easier than the regular offense. He will not perform this well as a starter, but I was still impressed.
