I got on my computer yesterday afternoon and took a look at the draft ticker and had to do a double take.
I was pretty sure somebody that hates the Dolphins had hacked the NFL.com website and was trying to give us all heart attacks by putting those picks up for us, but then i confirmed with other sources that we did in fact take TED GINN at #9 overall...........are you ****ing kidding me?
First of all, we already have Chris Chambers, who two years ago was the second best receiver in the NFL next to Steve Smith, and has proven that he can be an elite receiver in the NFL, and we didn't even use him close to enough last year. So my first question is, why did we feel that we needed to use our first round pick, a TOP TEN pick on another wide receiver that wouldn't even be be our #1 guy? Even if we drafted Calvin Johnson somehow, this still wouldn't make sense, since we don't need a WR even CLOSE to as much as we needed help on the offensive/defensive line, secondary, or quarterback especially. Which brings me to my next question: who the hell is going to throw to our amazing ted ginn?
Beck? really? so let me get this straight. we passed up on Brady Quinn in the first round to take a WR/returner that we didn't even need, all so we could take Beck in the secound? am i missing something here? i don't quite understand how we needed another receiver that won't even get 50 catches when we haven't had a half decent quarterback since Marino retired. Beck may not be BAD, but he is DEFINETELY not the answer to our problems, and we essentially wasted that draft pick on him, and a good second round one at that.
Then with our next 2nd round pick, with the pick right after the best center in the draft was taken, we take a center?! now this is getting out of control.
So essentially, we had the WORST pick in the first round, bar none. Passed up on what many people consider the franchise QB of this draft, and didn't address our woes at secondary.
Even if we wanted a WR that badly, why didn't we go the smart route and take Quinn at #9, who is obviously better than Beck, and then with our second we could've taken Dwayne Jarrett, who would probably contribute more for us than Ginn will.
Better choices? How about taking Revis with our first? or Chris Houston with our first second rounder and then beck with our other one instead of a center? How about Quinn with our first and then Jarrett with our second? How about trading down with the Browns and getting all those amazing picks they gave up to thecowboys, and then some more since our pick was way better? How about we address our teams NEEDS for once?
In all honesty, we easily had the worst draft in the NFL this year. As much as I hate to admit it, it's true. Even if you don't think it was THAT bad, you still have to admit we could've done so much better.
I myself could've drafted better for us this year, it was a farce.
