Thomas, Douglas, Turner - all cut on the same day. All high draft picks. Is this Gase telling Tannenbaum to go **** himself and trying to force Ross hand?

Is it about sending a message? If the latter, how effective can it be to cut some backups? Cutting James would have had more of an impact.

What do fellow fin fans think is going on here?

Fixing past mistakes

if Culliver and Howard are both fully healthy, i would bet Maxwell will hit the bricks

If I took over the team, first move I would make would be to cut Thomas and turner. I'm not a believer in Gase but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I think it's a "You said I control the out door, right Mike?" move.

Ja'Wuan James, Jordan Phillips and Byron Maxwell all need to get the axe. They're all dead weight and bad players.

Jordan Phillips is coming around. And James would be a good backup.

Maxwell on the other hand -- wow. Just wow on the lack of effort and prep. He looks like he doesn't give a crap what happens on the field as long as he gets his paycheck. He's just somewhere else mentally.

I see this as a "the season is lost, time to shake things up on our weakest group" type of move.

IMO the whole team needs to be replaced and built in Gase's image if that's what we're committed to. By the time we're respectable, the few players that are good will be old or too expensive.

That is one way to look at it. Another plausibility is that Ross pulled Gase into his office told him 'I know I told you I would give you 3 years but if this embarrassment keeps up you'll be lucky if I give you another 3 weeks.'

Tbum was walking by when he overheard that meeting:

What happened to Juwan? He seemed promising after his rookie year.

That's the problem...he still looks the same as his rookie year! Looking "good for a rookie" is not acceptable your third year...

The need to replace much of the roster with players that fit a certain image is part of why bad teams tend to remain bad. Not that I think worthless players should be kept around.
