I seriously think this was a wasted game, at least offensively because of the Bears blitzing. They had one of the most aggressive gameplans I have seen, preseason or regular season. I think it would be unfair to expect our line to be able to pick up those kind of blitzes this early in the preseason, but in a way I'm happy we saw it. No doubt they will go over the game tape a lot and learn from it.
I actually wouldn't be surprised to hear Saban say that they weren't expecting all the blitzes.

Defensively we didn't look that great, but I think the strength of our defense this year will be the ability to exploit other teams weaknesses (Gameplanning). Saban obviously didn't gameplan for the Bears, and the Bears picked on our inexperienced secondary. The one positive I saw was that we clogged the middle pretty good in the running game.

I think the bears actually showed more of their D then teams should during preseason. One of the reasons teams play vanilla schemes in preseason is to make sure it doesn't help other teams game plan against them in the regular season.

I disagree, this wasn't a wasted game. To a lot of the young guys this was a great learning experience, and some of them will run with it, and get better from it!
