Its a new year, new team & a new mentality. There is something about this year's Miami Dolphins team that has me very excited. This year Miami anchors a defense that could very well be the best in the entire NFL. I mean look what they did under Mike Nolan in just one year. They went from like 26th overall to 5th or 6th. The continuity along with a key addition (i.e. Kevin Burnett who is a significant upgrade over Channing Crowder) and this defense has no place to go but up in the overall rankings on defense.

I don't know about you guys but when I found out Miami got the Brown's old offensive coordinator I thought to myself " How in the hell could this possibly be an upgrade over Dan Henning?". Just watching the preseason games and the fact that they have just been airing it out left and right more than answers that question.
Brian Daboll is a young, innovative OC that I can't help but be excited about what he brings to the table.
God knows we have the tools to be atleast a top 15 team on that side of the ball. I love how our offense looks with the addition of Reggie Bush. Never in the 19 years of watching the Dolphins have I seen Miami have a running back with his kind of quickness. The guy is surreal. He is going to make such a difference on screen passes and coming out of the backfield on dump offs. Daniel Thomas will be our between the tackles RB. All I see in DT is a younger less injury prone Ronnie Brown.
The Receiver position used to be our weak link of the team, but when I look at what we have now I think our 3 main receivers can match up with almost any other 3 WR core in the NFL. Brandon Marshall is our clear cut dominant #1 and Bess is as sure fire a slot receiver as any. Hartline is going to be the jack of all trades in my eyes. I have loved this guy and what he has brought to the table since we drafted him. He has reliable hands and is a very quiet burner. I mean When I have seen the Dolphins call play-action and go deep plays, Hartline has seemed to be on the end of quite a bit of those. The Atlanta game he was open by about 15 yds when he got that TD. I honestly think, while many believe Gates will be our deep threat that Hartline will in fact be our home run hitter when it comes to getting the deep balls.
Hartline again is very quick and knows how to get open, especially on the deep ball. I can see Hartline being our Alvin Harper. Maybe not as good but still what you would expect from a sure fire #2 WR.
Lets not forget about Fasano who to be honest just keeps getting better and better. I am hoping this is the year that Fasano has a monster season and is in the same conversations as a Marcedes Lewis or Greg Olsen. Lets not forget Fasano is a mean blocker too.

Sorry I went on a tangent my fellow finatics. I just look at this team and even though preseason doesn't mean a damn thing, can't help but think this team is vastly improved. I am very excited about what Daboll brings to the offense, how great this defense can be & ultimately how Chad Hennessy can do. Our success will be based for the most part on how Henne can do. He has the weapons to do it. I mean when your offense consists of Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush sprinkled in with some Bess, Hartline and Fasano, there aint no reason Henne shouldn't put up big numbers.

So lets get pumped everyone. Its a new year and a new team. I know alot of the so called "Analysts" are dogging us, saying we will win no more than 6-7 games and could possibly be 4th in the AFC East behind the bills, but I have watched this team long enough to know that when they are not favored to do anything and just fly under the radar, good things seem to happen. I think this will turn out to be a great year.

GO DOLPHINS BABY!!!!

Excited about the D and the step forward in a new direction for the O. The D should be brutal. Davis taking it to the next level, Dansby and Burnett blitzing and patrolling the middle. Wake and the rest of the Dline should put a hurtin' on some QBs.
Think Henne can finally step-up this year. WRs are great. TE...hmmmm hopefully Rosario and Yeatman can help a little eventually....Fasano is just solid to me. Not good not bad.
Particularly excited to have picked up Bush and Burnett as well. Hope D. Thomas can learn to be more aggressive in hitting the holes and not dance around and start picking up blitzes. Needs to not run so straight up too. I think he can turn all of that around though.
The Oline worries me big time right now. Hopefully, they look different and gelled in the real season, cause preseason looks scary on the right side. Out of position Carey and Turnstile Colombo.
Really expecting good things this year, and hope that translates into wins.
Go Phins!

....I just recently started to post here(FH) again and what stuck out at me most was all the "Negative Nellies" around here. It's nice to see a few "positive attitude" posts. :hi5:

Sure there's plenty of what some would refer to as "realists" and "homers" on this site, but the good thing is we're ALL Dolphins fans. It doesn't make anyone more or less of a fan, I believe. What we shouldn't do, though, is attack each other because one chooses to be more or less positive than another fan. I say we as fans should save the critique for the team, the players, the coaches, etc...not a fellow fan.

I..have that same feeling in my gut about this team as well like no other squad that we have had going into the season.Maybe im just a homer...but this is a really good team.besides the right side of our o-line.I no longer see any glaring weaknesses on our team and thats saying a lot if henne can put it 2gether.Superbowl? well I can be optimistic if we get into the dance ( anything can happen )

The past decade is taking a toll on most of our fan base. Miami needs a good season, if for nothing the health of the fans lol.

The greatest improvement I've witnessed this pre season is team speed. Speed can overcome some young mistakes and in season's past we just didn't have it. I'm looking forward to this season.

The biggest benefactor to me in this offense will be Fasano. Fasano sets up bigger plays IMO.

never in my life did i think an offense would wear teams down with a passing game, but here it is folks.

South florida heat will once again become an advantage.

To be honest (dont bash me), I didn't watch a single pre-season game since I live in Washington DC. But I hear the OL is a joke, I'm not sure why people are so high on Kevin Burnett when he never struck me as more than mediocre at his last team (and on Madden lol), our running game didn't look too good this pre-season (ditching Ricky and Ronnie was a mistake), and watching sportscenter we seemed to let big pass plays go right through us. I also heard the DL wasnt penetrating the OL...

if this is all true, yikes...

You may want to actually watch Kevin Burnett. He was a key player for the Chargers #1 defense last year, and dude was ALL OVER the field this preseason. He is going to be a playmaker, period.

Great post. I'm really excited as well. I liked what I saw in the 2nd and 3rd preseason games. Without our two best offensive threats in there for game 1, I discard what happened in that game. I don't care about the final score, but the 1's looked very good out there. Henne and the O did way better then expected and the line will just get better with Jake back. The line definitely has some problems, but Henne did a fantastic job of taking advantage of the opportunities and not making mistakes (sacks & TOs).
