Watch this and tell me you don't like what you see:

I see Chad Henne, Safe throws/checkdown king and then bad throw downfield.

I have played this game before....

then this is all you need to know people. hot garbage. cus chubbs says so. and chubbs is always right. probly said reggie bush sucks too when we picked him up.

Mike Sherman can do wonders with this kid. It starts with the good footwork that Alex Smith obviously has.

This "kid" has been in the league 6 years.....he is a Matt Moore clone we don't need him.

He has no one to throw it to except Davis...

Ginn sucks we know that all too well. Crabtree has trouble with separation and is basically a bust.

The giants have a marginal defense?? lol what? Their secondary isn't all that great but their D-line when healthy is great

Haha, what? They were like the 26th ranked defense in yardage and 24th in points, I think. Their defense is not good. They match up well with certain teams, but they flat out do not have a great defense.

And Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree are better than anyone he'd have to throw to here. This is hilarious that anyone's drinking this kool-aid on this guy because he beat up on the Saints at home coming off a bye.

cant be serious , alex smith had about 5-6 throws completed for 40+ yards in this game. Please dont put chad henne in the same sentence as alex smith.

checkdown, checkdown, incomplete, Vernon Davis, checkdown, Vernon Davis.....what am I supposed to be impressed about?

Woud u rather him throw an interception and lose the game for us like chad henne and brett favre do? he found a way to win and thats all that matters in the end.

got news for you. peyton manning wasnt really all that great....until his contract came due.

Are you serious? With the exception of his rookie year Manning has been consistently great. Comparing Smith with Manning is total madness. People seem to be losing perspective on Smith around here - he has been an average NFL QB and a marginal starter for most of his tenure. To my knowledge, this is the commonly held belief of most NFL analysts and I am a little taken aback by the amount of people that see him as anything more than that. We need to be careful, you cannot take one decent season as a sign of greatness - in statistics that is called a blip.

Only time will tell how Smith works out (if indeed we sign the guy) and I would love to see him play amazingly for us, but I just don't see him being much better than what has come before. I hope I am wrong.
