I am guilty too. But WAY WAY too much emphasis has been/is being put on a coach being able to turn a team around in a year or two.

I am more convinced then ever that Saban is the real deal! I love this guy.

What Miami did to the bears was absolutely outstanding.

Miami proved that right now - today we are a better team. It was not a match up thing, nor was it a thing in which the Bears played particularly poorly. That is the Bears played badly but that was due to there being dominated, smacked in the mouth!

Saban is trying to install something in his players psyche, in their will to win, in their ability to deal with setbacks, their view of themselves when all the chips are down that makes the seemingly impossible POSSIBLE. And more than anything else that makes a CHAMPION.

He is fond of saying - it is not what happens to you in life, but what you do with it.

I'm just saying that the rest of the NFL better look out! This team is re-born. I look for us to start opening some eyes around the league big time. Short of an unprecedented, unheard of, unseen turn of events it is too little too late. I am OK with that- 8 and 8 or even 7 and nine would be satisfying - of course anything better would be OUTSTANDING!

You NEVER know what a win can do for you!

ell its nice to get excited about what we did to the bears, but what concerns me more is what we did against the Texans, Titans and Packers.

the nfl nowadays is all about QUICK turnarounds. lovie smith, belicheck, sean payton, bill parcells, andy reid, marvin lewis and probably a few other i am forgetting turned their teams around in one or two years. this is year 2 under saban and if not for the bears game would you say he is doing a good job?

Your research is fallable, it took Bellichick 3-4 years, Marvin Lewis took 4 years, Andy Reid took 3 years, Parcells took 3 with Pats, 6 with Giants, 3 with Jets, and 3+ with Cowboys. So what your really saying is while it took those probable HOF coaches 3-4 years you're only willing to give Saban 2. Thank God you're not Huizenga!

umm phins rock you need to go and do some research. i was referring to parcells with the boys. he got to the playoffs in his first year. but since you brought up the other teams, he took the jets to the afc chmp game in his second year. the pats got the playoffs in his second year. as far as billicheck he won the super bowl in ne in his second year.
it did take marvin 3 yrs to make the playoffs, my mistake. however, you need to do research before you open your mouth.
p.s. i didn't count coaches from years ago becuase free agency didn't take place until 93 i believe. it is completely different now in how you sign players.

In most of those cases the teams stockpiled high draft choices on the roster so when those coaches came in the had better talent to work with. Coach hasn't had that luxury. It will take the Phins abit longer but I believe he will get it done

Sean Payton had no more advantage than Saban had. What top draft picks were stockpiles in NO. He had the second pick this year and every other year they were middle of the pack. Lets quit making excuses for Saban, New Orleans had no better talent than we had when Saban took over. Nos saying that Saban sucks or is not a good coach but he had enough talent to add to that he could put a decent team out on the field. N.O had a top 10 pick one other time and most years had about the same picks we have had. I don't think Johnathon Sullivan put Payton over the top, in fact is he even on a team.

add to that Holmgren took like 5 years with Seattle

2005 9-7
2006 2-6

11-13 thru 1 1/2 seasons

Not exactly awesome. Watching the Colts/Pats game I noticed Dungy was 55-16 with Indianapolis since being hired.

Talk about a big difference then what Saban had shown. Manning or not, 11-13 needs to be a lot better then it is

lovie smith, belicheck, sean payton, bill parcells, andy reid, marvin lewis ...

OK, let's look at the QB situations here -- and it will CLEARLY tell the story ... PARCELLS has BLEDSOE [can't get there] maybe he 'found' ROMO ... SMITH has GROSSMAN [hasn't stayed on the field] .... but these teams have gone as far as their DEFENSES have taken them ...

The other 4 ... get real ... we'd take any of those QBs in a split second -- and we won't even go down the BREES road [which still pains me] ...

These 'turn arounds' were NOT because of these coaches ... they INHERITED pretty good teams and nucleuses .... we have STARTED to build a nucleus -- but still have a ways to go .....

Show me how New orleans had so much better nucleus than us. People act like saban took over the friggin texans.

Those teams have QBs and RBs that are relatively young - read nucleus .... their defenses aren't as old as ours either .... all very different situations than ours.

IF we had signed BREES, we would NOT be 2-6 right now .... maybe not 6-2 .... but that's the way it goes ....

Right now SABAN is tied to BROWN who just may be coming into his own this year ... we'll see what the rest of the year brings .... he is also tied to CULPEPPER -- we'll have to wait to see how that one turns out next year ...

For nucleus ... tell me how many starters right now will still be starting in the same position on this team in 3 years ....

Yeah, the Texans. The team we've never beat.

I see that many fans took the stand that today's NFL is all about quick turn-around and these fans only prove my point. Of course this is what we all wish to happen, but it did not so then what.

I am evaluating what hit my eye and I loved what I saw. The Dolphins broke through against the Bears. And I believe we will improve from here. Going 8 and 8 will make us appealing to free-agents and with improved cap room, another year under Saban and co. and a good draft we are gonna be contenders.

Thank you Nicky!

I agree though too early to make up our mind on saban but if next year we start out 1-6 then guess what give him a free ride back to college.
