Wayne in town.....

Hey, that's pretty cool!! Yeah, I have seen Wayne's chopper at most of the games I've gone to. I see it in downtown Lauderdale sometimes too, where he had a helo pad built on top of a parking garage across from the AutoNation building.

He's really got it rough.

You know, I never thought of this before...but the dude took a used garbage truck in the 60's and turned it into a waste management goliath of a company...I honestly wonder if Mr. Huizenga is "connected" so-to-speak. Maybe that's using an unfair stereotype about the waste management industry during the 80's and early 90's, but still...

Ya Think?... Of coarse he is CK. You have to be, to be in that industry. A buddy of mine is in Construction Clean-Up. He had a real tough time breaking into the biz because of where he could dump... Now he's got 5 crews and a house on the water. But, he told me some story's that absolutely blew me away!!

Look at the industries Wayne is in...
Garbage, When will people not produce garbage?

Video rental, what a concept!! buy a video for $10, rent it out 500 to 1000 times for $3.00. (then sell the company before Netflix comes along, or was that just dumb luck?)

Auto dealer, change the way people buy cars. Then buy up a ton of dealerships and corner the market. You think "Maroone" would be anywhere and everywhere if Wayne didn't have his hand on it?

Nations Rent, is similar to video rental but on a grander scale cause heavy machinery hardly looses value if maintained, yet you can make back it's cost 100 times over during the period that they rent it out.

See the trend here? He's never had a company that produced a product!
He takes someone elses product and wraps it in a new sales technique and Whamo he's a billionaire!

Those who are connected, corner these types of industries and are very careful who they let in. That's all I'm Sayin'
I hate to stereotype too, but hey if the shoe fits...

Like Tony Soprano is in the 'waste management business'?

Yeah I can see Wayne in that kind of role. But I'm sure Wayne is just a great businessman, knows what he's doing and usually gets what he wants.

Id love to fly in the 'Phins plane

Wayne is the only man to start three different businesses to make it to the Fortune 500. Waste Management, Blockbuster, Republic Industries.
The only screwup was his loyalty to Spielman and Wannstedt.

He definetley was, but he gave it all up and his plan was to buy all of south floridas teams and win a community over as the good guy to fix his image. I read a pretty lengthy bio on the guy a ways back when i thought he needed to go. My Italian Grandfathers story is very similar to Wayne's. Grew up poor in the city and some how turned a waste company into mucho millions. He was "connected" no doubt.
