Wayne Please Fire Wanny!!

I hate to say it, but I have two words for you: Steve Spurrier

I honestly believe that the only reason Wanny was retained was because Wayne knew the guy he wanted wasn't going to come back this year. Spurrier could use the year off to re-charge his batteries and then take over...if Wanny had another disappointing season.

I 'm not a fan of Spurrier but there are a lot of Gator fans in South Florida and this would be a popular move. They would definitely sell some tickets if they named Spurrier coach.
I have 2 words for you....HELL NA!!!:shakeno:

should the fins have a winning season and still miss the playoffs would that still be enough to keep him next (year) as far as you're concerned?

I know I'm in the minority, but I would say yes.

Heck, if the Fins manage 9-7 or better with the offseason they've had, playoffs or no, Wannstedt deserves consideration for Coach of the Year.

What if the Mare MAKES the FG against NE and the Broncos beat the Pats in their close game.

The Fins could have gone 11-5 and still missed the playoffs. Does that make Wanny a bad coach? On the flip side, if Mare makes the FG and Den loses, suddenly Wanny is no longer a bad coach? It makes no sense. 10-6 was a respectible record for that team. They had serious holes in personel on offense and STILL WON 10 games. That has to be attributed to coaching.

In the end, any coaching change will be made for one of these reasons:

1. Total futility (say records of 3-13, 8-8, and 6-10)
2. Not meeting realistic expectations
3. Just to shake things up
4. Just to placate misinformed, obnoxious, spoiled fans.

If Wanny does get canned, it will not be because of reasons 1 or 2.

People are so confident that Wannstedt will keep his job after this year even if we're terrible. It kind of reminds me of how everyone was so confident that Wannstedt would be fired after last season. ANYTHING can happen. I don't think Wanny gets a pass for this year. You know how much Wayne wants to see AJ play. Hell, he even said he hoped AJ was the 2nd oming of Marino. I think if Dave plays 'musical quarterbacks' and bombs the season and gets blasted by everyone for not sticking with one guy it just might be his ticket outta town. As much as I want Dave gone, I'm not hoping for that to happen though. God know I want AJ to be our guy and take his lumps and learn and become more than we all hoped for. It's so hard... I want this team to surprise everyone and do well..and for AJ to be great. But then that means we get to keep our beloved Stachestedt. Makes my head wanna pop... :fire:

Could've, should've . who's to blame for the texans loss? Mare? Who ignored the offense Norv?

Gotta tell ya - if Spurrier becomes head coach of the Fins -

I'll have to find a new team. That jerk doesn't belong in the NFL.

That's going from Real Bad - to TERRIBLE.

Point is that missing the playoffs is sometimes determined by the competition. 10-6 was a good (not great) record for that team.

In the Pats game, Wanny and his staff outcoached the great NE coaching staff. He was let down by the kicker.

The blame for the Texans game is shared by the players and the coaches. The occasional letdown I blame on the players more. When it because systemic, I blame the coach more.

I don't think Spurrier will come back personally but just an interesting note, Spurrier went 7-9, and 5-11 in his 2 seasons. Wannstedt went 4-12 his last 2 seasons with the Bears.

Unfortunately no. I like Wannstedt but they need to make the playoffs to keep him. By the same token, I'm hoping that a winning record=playoffs.

Yup, he sure didn't get a break in that game. However it's the coaches job to get the team prepared to play which he didn't do against the texans. Had the fins won that game they would've made the playoffs.

I agree that the coaches get part of the blame for the Texans, but the players are also at fault.

Wanny is horrible. He is going to hurt this team more than help it. Using a new quarterback each week will not do anything. Wanny needs to stick with one guy. Give the team some stability!

I feel your pain! Wanny makes me :barf:
