Ways to improve the PRO BOWL GAME

First of all...we all agree that last years pro bowl game was a joke, especially the defenses. Why not use the same rules they use through out the season and let the defenses actually play and show their abilities. Tired of the no blitzing and the rules they have to protect the QB now are sufficient enough, no need to put a dress on them. Also, the major incentive for winning the game will be more than the current 36,000 for the winners and 18,000 for the losing squad. Why not do what Major League Baseball does... the winning side will have home field advantage in the Super Bowl. Tired of all the neutral site games...time to go old school and play the game in the cities REPRESENTING the game itself. This would definitely improve the competition and intensity of the game...no more going through the motions...there is a lot at stake there.

I appreciate your effort and willingness to put forth several worthwhile ideas, however, I think this dinosaur of an All Star game is soon to be extinct. The players need to decide if the game is worth playing all out. Personnally, I don't think it will happen no matter how much money they make or if the handcuffs are taken off of the players. Bottom line, imo, is none of them want to risk a serious injury that can ruin their career or their bargaining power. And they have already played 16+ brutal games and they are worn out. I can't say I blame them.

The NHL All Star game has become a farce also as there is virtually no defense and very little checking. Thus we see games with scores like 12-10 when a typical NHL game has has maybe 6 goals total. The NBA, imo, isn't far behind as again defenses take the night off and both teams score over 120 points. I can see why this works for the NBA, it being less of a contact sport and all the players can be offensive weapons. Those of us who love the NFL I believe want more than scoring; we want to see great hitting and defense also.

I don't like baseball's version of the winning league getting homefield advantage, but at least they have a best of 7 series and each team will have at least 2 home games. I do think it would be interesting to have the team with the best record host the Super Bowl. I'm an old timer and I remember some great NFL title games that were not played on a neutral site. It added another dimension of drama plus the weather factor. But in today's world it is about the $, and I question whether a Giants vs New England game played in a snow storm or a Packers vs Steelers game in sub-zero temperatures will generate the same type of income.

Perhaps it is best if we just let the players decide; do they want this game, or not?

The Pro Bowl doesn't need to be saved; it needs to be put down. It's always been a joke and a yawn fest.

The probowl game is not that big of a deal. It should never have anything to do with determining the Superbowl champion and football should never look to an an outdated excruciatingly boring sport like baseball for guidance. The truth is that football players take a chance at ending their careers everytime they take the field so they will never play that game the way they do a regular season game. I am almost relieved when there are no Dolphins on the team so we dont have to worry about freak injuries. I think they should just get rid of it.

I think they still have something similar but it's not taken very seriously at all. I recall seeing Drew Brees doing some accuracy drills several years ago.

Haven't watch the Pro Bowl in probably a decade.

I do remember this past Pro Bowl very well, though. I slept thru the whole thing and woke up to ESPN text alerts that Brandon Marshall went bananas. Came to the board and it was just a complete delusion fest. All of a sudden, the Pro Bowl was the be all, end all when measuring NFL talents.

LOL. That was my favorite thread because, yes, yes I did want to trade him after that performance. ESPECIALLY after that performance. He actually gave himself some value for a change and good grief did we rip off the Chicago Bears in that deal. Good riddance to poor rubbish.

Give the Pro Bowl the death penalty. The lingerie bowl is more relevant at this time.

As much as I loved watching the Pro Bowl as a kid, I too agree it is not worth it anymore. I say they just pick players for a fictional Pro Bowl and then just pay them based on the Super Bowl out come. Which ever conference wins the Super Bowl, selected Pro Bowlers get paid accordingly.
