Why is it that the Dolphins can never get it goin until the fourth quarter. This has to fall on the coaching and is unacceptbale two years in a row.

It is a reflection of the coaching staff, but also just as much a reflection of the attitude the players have. What it shows me is that this team is wound way, way, (cant stress way enough) way, too tight. The expectations and the pressure of being picked to contend for a SB has overwhelmed this team.

To answer your post directly, they're playing well in the 4th quarter because the pressure is off. They're behind, the pressure is on the other team to hold the lead. Prime example the Bears and Cards game, Arizona folded under the pressure. When your down 20-3 and teams are putting up prevent defenses ur bound to score a few meaingless points...

1-3= 3 total pts
2-10,3,10=23 total pts
3-7,7,3,3=20 total pts
4-7,3,10,14=34 total pts
I agree this should be blamed on the coaching staff.

Maybe it's b/c the Phins are always playing from behind and the opposing teams go to a soft prevent style defense like the Jesters did last week.

I agree...its like we are satisfied with limping through the game until late. I haven't seen a good opening drive from our offense that I can remember.

I have theory we ran the hurry up in the fourth quarter. this allows the qb to audible depending on the defensive line up.This in turn limits the bull$**t mularkey can call. Mularkey calls a crap play on 1st down. joey dont like the D so he audibles, 2nd and 3 ,in stead of 2nd and 8, and so on. Then were in field goal range. It dont hurt either that our opponents have gone to a softer D in the fourth quarter.:cooldude:

Actually, what I saw last year was Miami beating two eventual conference finalists in the first three weeks of the season. This team can't even dream about doing that.

for my 100th post

if you ask me these 4th quarter comebacks are actually pretty exciting if you want to know the truth. But in reality it is unacceptible and I don't know whether it is the players fault or the coaches fault. I think it is a little bit of both because you can't blame a coach for a droped ball, bad route run, or an open receiver not seen.

Whether it is the coaches fault or the players fault I don't know or care, the reason we do well in the fourth qtr is the other team's are playing prevent defense and it seems we can only score against prevent defenses. In other words our offense just sucks big time, we can't score unless the other team is in prevent defense. And that's EVERYBODYs fault! (except mine of course, and even I'm feeling guilty of late) ;-)

I can't remember a game where at the end of the 3rd quarter I could just sit back and watch the game feeling like we've got this one in the bag. It just never happens that way with the Dolphins. It's always a nail biter all the way to the end. I like getting excited at the end of the game. But those games we lose in the last 3 or 4 minutes just kill me.

You can blame a coach for a half back pass call on a tying two point coversion attempt! That was just stupid:tantrum:

We dont start playing until the 4th and after week 9 when the pressure is off. Most of chambers catches come in the 2nd half of the season too!
