However, there are plenty of people to reassess. Per Overthecap.com, I listed the cap savings below if we cut them…..

Cam Wake: 8.4mm in savings
Jordan Cameron: 7.5mm
Brent Grimes : 6.5mm
Quinton Coples: 7.751mm
Dion Jordan: 3.210mm
Greg Jennings: 4mm
Koa Misi: 3.722mm
Brice McCain: 2.5mm
Earl Mitchell: 2.5mm
Jason Fox: 1.38mm

Cutting all of these players wouldget us 40.515 under the cap. However, we would have some huge holes to fill. I would want to redirect that money to Miller, Vernon and Shelby and hopefully restructure Wake and/or Grimes (if possible). Keeping in mind we need to set aside 5mil for the rookies. Im sure Aponte/Tannebaum can do some creative structuring to make these cap numbers even smaller, but wishful thinking would go something like this…..…..

Rookies 5mm
Miller 5mm
Shelby 4mm
Vernon 8mm
Remaining 18mm

I'd cut Mitchell, Fox, McCain, Jordan, Jennings, Cameron, Grimes without blinking an eye. We need to draft a corner and bring a young guy in in FA (janoris or trumain would be ideal). Sick of the distraction that comes with Brent.

Vernon wants top dollar. Wake might be willing to negotiate. Re-sign Miller top priority, then try to work out a deal for Vernon. If it can't be worked it out, restructure Wake to an incentive based contract for 2016.

Shelby needs to be re-signed.

Wake already said he would restructure, so I'd imagine that'd be about half the cap number for him.

I would not expect OV to sign. He's probably getting at least $10 million from some desperate team. I mean, Jared Odrick got a $42 million deal and he's not an elite player.

Are you taking into account June 1 cuts? I believe a few million can be saved with June 1 cuts.

We would probably have room for 2 splash-type deals. I'd almost bank on one of those being an offensive lineman (I hope).

The other could be a corner, free safety, linebacker, or tight end. Both of Indy's tight ends are free agents this year - Dwayne Allen and Colby Fleener. Eric Berry and Eric Weddle are both FA at free safety. Sean Smith and Nolan Carroll (both former Dolphins) are free agents at corner.

Linebacker crop in FA isn't looking too hot. I really hope we can keep Shelby, as he'll likely be a starter on our line next season.

Two "splash" deals should be offensive line and cornerback. I would hesitate to call them two splashes, because I would hope to make a reasonable deal at corner. Guard you absolutely have to go out and get.

Dont forget Ladarius Green. I would be excited as hell if the Dolphins brought him in as their TE next year. Full disclosure, I was excited for Cameron.

Dwayne Allen would be a nice replacement, too. I think we could even bring Cameron back on the cheap at this point if we get a coach that can use him (Hue Jackson).

Lots of trash on that list! Time to take out the garbage!

Restructure Cam, keep Cameron (he should thrive under a new system), Misi, McCain and Mitchell and resign Miller, OV and Shelby if possible. The rest can start looking for a new residence on apartments.com as far as I'm concerned.

Curious; How much would it be to tag Lamar while Dawn works on a reasonable long term deal?

10.9 million franchise 9 million transition based on last year which could go up

for Vernon it would be 15 million and 12 million

The problem is it ties up that much against the cap.

Quality post.

I believe there's a $0.00 cap hit if we cut Coples, since his old team is on the hook for the guaranteed money.

Also don't forget about cutting Damien Williams, John Denney, Logan Thomas and Chris McCain. That'll save another couple million.

Cutting running back Damien Williams? I wouldn't want them to do that. He is making 600k next year and is at least a great 3rd stringer. Logan Thomas makes 600k in '16, too. They need to kick the tires on Logan before they think about letting him go. No rush to cut either guy, they make peanuts next year.

I wouldn't mind cutting Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner, we know what they can do
nothing

This cap situation is really the only thing that makes me feel that even if we do everything right, we'll be a loser in 2016, which sucks. I was honestly feeling that our good players could overcome our bad ones with a few fixes for 2016. Now, I think we'll use all our money to stay at the same talent level. Damn.

We're better off tanking 2016 and getting a top 3 overall pick and having a ton of cap room. Might as well keep Dan Campbell as coach.

I'd love to see someone in our organization just come out and say "we're tanking 2016 because of a brutal cap situation". That would take some balls.

Honestly, the only thing I'd spend money on is making sure the O-line can protect Tannehill. We'll give up a ton of points but at least our games will be fun to watch.
Protect Tannehill, be able to run the ball, and let the defense burn. Then, fix the D in 2017. Priority #1 is giving Tannehill every possible chance to achieve.
While I like Lamar Miller a lot, if we're not going to win in 2016, let him walk. It does us no good to spend money on a RB if he's not part of a SB-contending team.

Cut them all
