On a yearly basics, we tend to say that we are a better team, (well forget the one when Ricky quit).... But here is my point...

If we are a better and more improved team because of our DBs , WR, Punter, OLB and DE acquisitions, compared to last year we should look like SB contenders right?

But every year teams raise, and teams fall... If we are as good as we think we are, then where do you put the Patsies, Jills and Jests.... are they as good as we are... Now, Which teams will be worse than last year if supposedly every team is a bit improved??

Do you guys get my point???

The Bills and the Colts will have worse years this year than last.

If the Dolphins beat the Falcons it will have a cascading effect on their morale and the Falcons will go 8-8.

The Patriots will have a worse record this season as well.

The Ravens won't make the playoffs.

Denver will stink it up.

The Dolphins added several veteran difference makers and I have yet to see any national media outlet or writer acknowledge what has really taken place in Dolphinville.

Even though Vontae Davis is a rookie I would not hesitate to call him an improvement over Goodman for many reasons. Size and tackling/hitting are huge improvements.

Wilson is a huge improvement over Hill and now this secondary is deap as well. A vastly improved secondary.

Wake and Jason Taylor constitute a vastly improved LB corps.

We have to wait and see if McDaniel brings any thing to the DL but just having Langford and Merling and Starks and Wright in the system another year is an improvement, and if Soliai can stay in shape and make some plays while Fergs gets a rest, that would be huge.

Groves and Smiley make for a much better line than we had at the end of last year.

The WR corps will undoubtedly be better and more experienced. I doubt if Turner brings anything but Hartline will make a difference on ST's and perhaps on regular downs later in the season.
London and Bess will be better than last year and Ginn could break out.

Second year in the system for Penny, look for a fast start.

No other team in the NFL has improved itself as much as the Dolphins. With good health this defense could be dominating.

Everyone knows what happens to teams that have a strong, mistake free, ball control offense and a dominating defense. They go far, very far.

None of our coaching staff has changed. (Besides O-line coach for the better)
We kept most of our core players, the ones we didn't we upgraded (except for Holliday)
We added depth and competition at most spots.

So I would say YES, definitely we are an improved team without a doubt from last year.

As far as the other teams in our division, I'll comment on a few things that may swing the momentum in our favor:

The Jets have a new head coach and no sure quarterback. Klemens is terrible and Sanchez is a rookie who couldn't even beat out John David Booty at USC. That's not to say they can't be serviceable quarterbacks riding their defense into the post season. And their defense should be stout, no question they improved there.

The Patriots, with Josh McDaniels leaving their offense might suffer.

Buffalo has Owens who may or may not make the team implode. Jauron is on the hot seat so may make stupid mistakes trying to save his job, i.e. benching Trent Edwards who is their best chance to win.

We are a much better team, on paper. Problem is, paper stats and potential talent don't win games. Player effort, playing as a team and avoiding costly injuries do. We had a pretty good year last year because guys were playing as a team, exceeding expectations (of what was expected) and even despite some injuries, other guys stepped up and filled in great. IF that happens again this year, with the improved talent we have brought in, then we should be a lot better and contend all the way. But like other teams find out, talent brought in may or may not perform. Distractions on the team can play havoc on team morale, and key injuries to players with nobody to pick up the slack can kill a teams ability to contend in games. We can only hope everything falls into place kind of like it did last year.

I'm unsure about the Pats. I think they could well be better - getting Brady back. They do have questions throughout the team, though.

We should be a lot better.

We are a much better team than last year, with the FA and draft picks some holes were filled, plus with a full year under their belts coaches and players will be improved. I believe barring injuries as stated above The Fins can reach the playoffs once again.
As for the Jets and Bills both will struggle, the Pats are a real question mark, it will depend on how Brady comes back, however their defense is a concern and could cost them some close games this year. I see the Fins and Pats battling for the East crown all season long. Pats are on the down side, Fins on the upside.
IMOP I believe 2010 will be the year we really make a serious run at the SB and shake off the Pats for good.

did he say the ravens arnt making the playoffs?

I think there's a good chance he's right. Their D won't be nearly as dominate - for a number of reasons. Their O will be improved but not enough to cover the ground that their D is losing.

At worst we're the 2nd best team in the division. The Patriots have questions at pass rush and who knows how Brady will do this year.

The Jets have a new coach, a new system, a new QB. They may not admit but they're definitely in rebuiliding mode.

The Bills have talented players but they're saddled with Dick Jauron. We swept them last year. We're much improved. I think we sweep them again.

I think that we have a decent shot to beat the Patriots this year. I think we have the edge against the Jets and a big edge with the Bills. I think our season this year will be defined in large measure by one thing. How many times we smack Tom Brady in the mouth. We blitz and sack New England's pretty boy enough that might be all we need to win the division.

I agree that Penny will have a fast start as he now knows the system, Ronnie being fully recovered from an acl tear and our secondary vastly improved I think we can repeat as AFC east champs. Everybody is on new england's d**k b/c of tom brady. I think Porter and Taylor will be used the RIGHT way this time around and will absolutley terrorize offenses this year especially in obvious passing downs. Having 2 physical corners even though they're rookies in Davis and Smith should be a significant upgrade in what we've had

I see no reason why we won't sweep both the Jets and Bills and split with the Pats. I'm not sure that we are on par with the Patriots over the course of the entire season but we should make a wildcard spot.

The Jets have no QB. Sanchez was a horrible pick to trade up to #5. He played in the Pac 10 and exploited weak defenses with USC's sytem. Although Pete Carroll handled his annoncement that he was leaving wrong, Pete was dead on about him not being ready. Next year he is not a 1st round choice.

The Bills lost a franchise LT and did nothing to replace him. Adding an over the hill WR who can no longer get off the line when jammed was desperation. I look for them to win 3-4 games at most.

The Ravens won't make the playoffs. The defense took a big hit both in players and coaching. Ray Lewis is getting older and slower.

The Texans imroved quite a bit and may very well be the other wildcard team. I think the Titans still win that divison.

I don't think the Colts make the playoffs. No Harrison, OC is gone. New coach. I think Peyton will have the most unproductive year of his career.

1. Patriots
2. Steelers
3. Titans
4. Chargers
5. Dolphins
6. Texans

Every year when we say we're better than the last it's based on massive change from coaching staff to the qb. This is the first year we're actually building on something.

It's been a while since we have been able to say that.

I don't think the Tittans will win the South. While the Redskins grossly overspent on Haynseworth, he was a big part of their team. I think either the Texans or Colts will be the only team from the AFC South to make the playoffs.
