In this age of free agency it is nearly impossible to keep quality depth on an NFL team but the Trifecta has pulled it off, all the great teams and organizations have this in common (Belichick and the Pats for example).

We lose our veteran starting QB, enter young backup Chad Henne future of our rising fraqnchise.

We lose half our Oline against the Panthers, enter our quality Olinmen backups off the bench.

We lose our big time HB Ronnie Brown, enter Ricky and Lex Hilliard and we dont miss a beat and continue to dominate running the football.

We lose our veteran #1 CB Will Allen, enter our 2 rookie corners they give up the occasional big play but overall are playing very well, Vonte Davis in particular seems to have penchant for making the big plays, i dont thing it will be long before Smith does the same.

NT Paul Solia has been dominant on certain plays this season, im very comfortable with him starting for the rest of the season.

OLB was a question mark last season but now is one of the deepest positions on the team, we seem to be getting more production from our ILB's this season too.

Great job by Sporano and the Trifecta, i fully expect us to be a Super Bowl caliber team by next season if we get another playmaker at both NT and WR, and possibly upgrade the Safety positions if Wilson and Bell dont start playing better in coverag, possibly upgrade the ILB's and TE's if we dont get more production at these positions, and possibly Interior Oline cant have enough big Oline hogs on your team, and continue to add depth, i think it will get done.

Double thumbs down on the clowns that flexed us out of our sunday night prime time game, they will regret doing that, it will be a great game and may decide our season, Miami beats cheatriots 34 - 24 and holds the ball for 40 minutes, Ricky 150 yards 2 scores, Brady throws 3 picks. We will beat the Bills by at least 17 this week........ Go Fins!!!

LOL, I love it when folks say we'll be a Superbowl caliber team next season and then go on to name about two-thirds of positions as needing an upgrade. :)

Upgrades

The only definite upgrades i mentioned were at NT and Wr, the others only need an upgrade if we dont get more production from those positions as i mentioned.......In any case the draft, free agency, and possible trades should be more than enough to get this team where it needs to be for a run for the Super Bowl by next season.

The magor part of our rebuilding is complete, winning starts in the trenches and we are 4th in the NFL in rushing and we are also also effective at stopping the run.

I stand by my statement....this team will be Super Bowl caliber by next season, whats more is if this team gets rolling by winning its next 2 games a run at the super bowl could be made this season.

We need a serious upgrade at linebacker. I don't know which Dolphins team you've been watching but we're getting gashed up the middle on runs and we're getting gashed by tight ends. The entire middle of our defense is soft... DT, MLB, and even the safeties can't cover worth squat.

We need to upgrade SEVERAL positions. We need more depth at safety (cover a tight end please?), we need depth at cornerback (Will Allen is a question mark and Nathan Jones is nothing more than a dime back), we need depth all over the LB position (outside, inside, we need work here) and we need more depth at NT.

Just about the only place on our defense that doesn't need work is DE.

Moreover, it looks like just about all your examples of our "great depth" is based off one game.

If we finish the season strong and have a great offseason/draft we may be contenders next year but I don't want to set my expectations too high too early based on a big IF.

Upgrades cont....

We are 12 the the league against the run a bit above average but could use some improvement, a dominating NT will go a long way in that regard and will also make the play of our ILB's better, DE's are set as you mentiones.

You make a good point about covering opposing TE's better, that is a must to improve our weak pass defense, however i did not base any of my opinions on one game.

We are getting a good pass rush out of our OLB's this season, but we should draft or sign someone next offseason to eventually replace the aging Porter and/or Taylor. We have found an excellent 3rd down pass rusher in Wake hopefully he can develop into a full time starter.

Nathan Jones is actually playing really well this year, next season our corners should be solid with Allen, Davis, Smith being the starting and nickel CB, with Jones being the dime back, hopefully Chris Clemens will push Wilson or Bell for a starting job, or we could sign someone to do so.

Sporano has stated that Crowder is close to being a pro bowl ILB (check aquavision pess conference about a week ago on MiamiDolphins.com), he also said that he was pleased with Ayoydele's and Torbor's play.

This is how great teams are made.. if you look at all the top teams, they are always churning the bottom of the roster, and making it so that at any point if a player goes down, a player will either step up and play better, or play somewhere close to the starter's level of play. It is amazing how different this team looks 2 seasons after that terrible 1-15 roster.

1st- Terrence Cody
2nd- Sergio Kindle
3rd- Micah Johnson
4th- Demaryious Thomas

Sign Braylon Edwards (stick it to the Jets and give Henne some help!) sign Dqwell Jackson, sign JT (one year again)

Dump- Joey Porter

Problems solved ;]

NO - CB's are average, they have an average SS, Vilma is solid at LBer and the other to are good, their Dline has been on and off.

NE - DE's are average, OLB's are weak, FS is okay, CB's are good, RB's are getting good value for nothing.

Indy - DT's are weak, LB's are average, SS is weak with B.Sanders out , they have one real decent CB, LT is weak.

I believe these are contenders right now and they also need upgrades in multiple positions. So what's your point!

I didn't have a point. It's just funny...I do it all the time too. I wasn't saying you can't be a contender when you have needs. :buds:

Maybe I'm way off, I guess time will tell but I too think we're an offseason of FA's and another solid draft from being a contender. Not just a single season but a consistent contender.

In FA we can easily get any solid WR to improve our corps (I have a tough time believing the big name Receivers will be available), T.Scheffler TE would be a great threat for our offense to compliment Sperry and Haynos.

How much better would our offense be with a guy like Scheffler in our lineup!!

We may very well draft high enough to not have a shot at a top end WR, NT, ILB so I really could see us trading out of the first and gaining more picks like a extra 2nd and 3rd to get better value overall.

Personally I think we need to go after Scheffler TE, A.Franklin NT in FA. Trade Ginn and Bell for more picks, insert Clemons to FS and Wilson to play his natural SS position. Go after OLB, ILB, WR in the draft. RE-sign Brown, Polite and Bess, then cut Porter and let our other FA's go.

i think he said that because he won't throw his players under the bus...i've watched every Dolphins game this year,as well as other games, and i just don't see Crowder as being anywhere near a Pro Bowl ILB...
