Just let that sink in for a moment. Win this week, beat the Jets and Steelers and we are in great shape.

:420:

and yet, when is the last time we came out on the positive end of controlling our destiny? 2008 is soooo long ago, i don't remember it. Not holding my breath.

But can destiny be controlled when your fate is already planned?

Earth shattering, right?

Miami controlled their own destiny when they were 3-0, and they responded by losing 5 out of 7 games. After falling apart in the second half of the NE game and losing to Baltimore and Buffalo, I don't see Miami as a playoff team at all. Plus, while averaging 21.3 points per game is not completely horrible, the fact that they still can't score more than 28 points in a game is distressing. Supposed inferior teams have put up 30-40 points on occasion, but Miami's offense is incapable of doing that. This offense just can't put an opponent away; they rely on the defense in every game. If the defense has a bad game, a loss is pretty much guaranteed.

Bring in a new OC with a better offensive scheme, and then this may be a team that could actually win a playoff game! (That is, if they can finally improve the o-line.)

Out of the teams in contention for the 2nd wild card spot, only San Diego (228 pts) and Tennessee (227 pts) have scored more than Miami (213 pts). Buffalo has scored 236 pts but have played one extra game than all other wild card teams in contention.

San Diego and Tennessee are also the only teams out of the wild card contenders for the 6th spot that have scored more than they have given up (Tennessee has scored 1 more point than they've allowed and San Diego has scored 8 more points).

To say Miami isn't a playoff team with the stats I just mentioned I'm curious to see who you think is.

who cares if u dont see them as a playoff team
the standings would beg to differ
we have the 6th best record in the conference
top 6 teams advance
do the math

I can totally see us beating the Panthers and Patriots and losing to the Jets once and Steelers, go 9-7 and lose a tiebreaker

One game at a time from this point on. We need to learn how to win the close games.

To those who think that Miami is the #6 seed, the Jets own the tiebreaker over Miami (at the moment), and they would be in. Unfortunately, some folks here CAN'T do the math!

Wow, we just barely won a game and we're talking playoffs?.....Yes I'm happy we won but did we really looked like a playoff team?....think about this, we lost a fumble that got called back due to a dumb personal foul on SD and of course we got a TD there. If not for that who knws what would have happen. No, I'm not trying to be negative but how many times have we seen The Dolphins win a game and get us all excited just to lay an egg the next week. The worst thing that can happen to this team is to win a few games that we'll be playing some bad teams and for everyone to think our team is just fine. We need changes and we need them now. I'll always root for our team but I'm not gonna start talking playoffs just yet.

Ozzy rules!!

The sixth seed in the afc is definately not going to be a good team.

I basically agree with the Dolphins always laying an egg at the most inopportune times. However, we should not play the What-if-games because they work for both sides of the story: what if the stupid refs do not call this ridiculous batting penalty on Vernon in the Patriots game...what if Tannehill doesn't fumble the game away against Buffalo, etc.

We are what we are, an average .500 team that is mathematically alive to make the Playoffs and is I'm fact controlling its own destiny, which means: win out and we're in. Right now, the Jets and us are the only teams in the AFC (except for the top 5 obviously) that can say this. Are we going to do it? Probably not but yesterday I realized that the lower the expectations I have the more I enjoy the games and the healthier my blood pressure becomes.

Actually as long as Miami doesn't end in a 1 on 1 tie with Baltimore they are in pretty good shape for in a tie-breaker situation.

They've beaten The Titans and Chargers and will probably wound up with a better conference record then some of these other teams because at best they will be 2-2, but more likely 1-3 vs the NFC meaning there AFC Record will be pretty good

IMO If they sweep the Jets and the Steelers lose twice they'll get in. I have Miami losing 2 of 3 to Carolina,NE and Pittsburgh. I think they'll beat Buffalo meaning if they sweep the Jets they'll wound up 9-7. The Raiders will lose twice more, The Chargers and Titans will atleast lose once more so that leaves the Jets,Steelers and Ravens who all play each other. Of the 3 pittsburgh has the best QB by far and is probabaly playing the best. We never win there to boot so rooting against Pittsbrugh from here on out will be key. Their sched isn't that tough either aside from a trip to Green Bay.
