We could still land luck with the 4th or 5th pick

I agree a BOUNTY will be offered to trade up to #1 for Luck.

However, the other HIGH-QUALITY QBs coming out will "soften" the blow of missing out on Luck.
Barkley, Weeden, Jones, and Lindley are some other interesting good prospects.

If the team that has the first pick does not want luck they will trade down. Bank that. There will be a handfull of teams that will trade the farm to get him. Another Ricky Williams type of trade. So yes we will have to be picking first if we want Luck

I can't see any team passing on him with the 1st overall pick even if they have a franchise qb on their roster or not.

The only way we have a shot at Luck if not having the first pick or backing up the Brink$ Truck to go all in on an uptrade is if Luck and his dad pull an Elway, Archie/Eli type move wanting to come to the Fins if Cowher is in charge (unlikely it would be their preferred destination otherwise). I can envision that happening if it's the Seahawks, Cardinals, Chiefs or Vikings who've maintained the status quo, but even then, if it's the Colts, Bill Polian would be an even huger draw.

weeden...a 30 year old rookie...no thanks...

its either luck or barkley everything else spells fail

Don't forget San Fran. I think Harbough will bet the bank on his college QB. Alex Smith sucks and the guy they got this year was a 2nd level talent not really a "franchise" QB. I think this was the plan from day one.

Rookie contracts aren't like they used to be, the Colts would most certainly take him

Exactly.

Look at Newton's contract: 4 years, 22 million. The first contract isn't going to cripple you anymore.

That said, I think people are making Luck more mythical than realistic. Even if he's the best prospect at QB since Manning (or since Elway), he's not worth giving up a whole draft class for. This team has other holes to fill. *If* we get the #1 overall, sure, take him, but also - and I'm very pointed about this - don't saddle the kid with unrealistic expectations.

luck is absolutely worth giving up a draft for...i'd pull a ditka with ricky williams for luck in a heartbeat...you don't think the colts would have given up an entire draft for peyton manning or the broncos for elway

they'd pony that sucker up like there's no tomorrow...and miami should trade whatever it takes to get luck if we have a chance...just wait til you guys see the bounty that kid commands if a team trades up for him...

no chance...but in the event it did tell em miamis VERY interested

Well as you said the Rams shouldn't be finishing anywhere near the #1 pick. If they did, it would mean Bradford is not all that. And even if the jury was still out on that, Luck for 25m is very much first prize; Bradford for 50m is a distant 2nd

the rams already gave bradford so much guaranteed money they'd never trade him to take luck...if they took luck it would be to use him as a trade chip to acquire a bounty...but yeah no chance at all the rams finish with the top pick...thats a joke

I think a lot of what the Rams gave Bradford is guaranteed but in the form of base salary. i.e if he's cut they pay it but if he was traded they'd be off the hook and the team getting him would be paying it
