We don't need Dan for a SB ring

I'm not saying this will happen next season, I do think we should be playoff bound next year if our offseason kicks as much *** as the 05 offseason. We can use a so-so QB to fake his way at the position. I say this because the team's confidence is building now, and hopefully this season at worst ends in 2-1. If it does expect a determined bunch next year, most of these guys haven't seen playoffs in a long time, so I think things will be good next year, even with a journeyman QB. I do wanna see Saban make an effort at the position next year, but I for one want Gus to stay in case something bad happens with a new QB.

Nick will address the QB situation in THIS off-season. That doesn't mean he will not stay w/ Gus as our #1 for the '06 season....if we draft a rookie.....he will sit and learn unless pressed into action. I have no prob w/ Gus staying at #1 while a promising rook learns how to WIN in the NFL.

I can't help but say if a rookie was learning under Gus he'd be getting a very mixed message: You gotta come out strong for a game or so early, trickle in the middle and once they start booing THEN you let the fans see what you can do

Really tho, I wish Gus luck and I'd like to see him fighting to start instead of it being given to him because he knows a system.

Rookie QB's are playing earlier than ever before.There's no time to wait like back in the 70's and 80's.When you draft a QB in the 1st round now, he'll play in his 2nd year at the latest and in many cases he'll play his 1st year.
