Cowboys and Redskins lose $46 million in cap space

The Redskins will lose $36 million in cap room and Dallas will lose $10 million. The NFL took their cap space away for front-loading contracts in 2010 and taking immediate cap hits during a year with no salary cap. Every team with the exception of the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints will receive $1.6 million.

Just means the top tier FA's are going to get even more absurd contracts.

Carl Nicks,Mario Williams,Vincent Jackson, even Reggie Nelson now that Griffin and Branch got tagged, are all going to be grossly overpaid.

Dolphins are already grossly overpaying Marshall and Dansby. I'm not so sure they will be inclined to continue overpaying FA's.

Manning would be the lone exception IMO.

thanks guys !!!!!!!! :3w: now when some other team wins the super Bowl, they can say they helped !!!!

Bahahaha, nothing I love more than seeing the Cowboys getting a symbolic kick to the nuts...

Wow, the Skins are ****ed. Their plan to trade their next three #1's for RGIII and reload via FA just took a major hit.

They can split the cap hit over the next two seasons but yeah, major problem for them in free agency and they can't turn to the draft because they lost their 2nd rounder this year and their 1st rounder next year (plus another 1st in 2014) so their best chance at some impact players at the top of the draft is out the door.

Serves Snyder right though...just for the stupid contract he gave Haynesworth. If not for that contract who knows, we may be able to afford keeping Soliai on the team.

Note that the Redskins and Rams trade isn't official till tomorrow. This might make the Redskins back off from the trade now.

How are the Skins going to sign RG3 and keep anyone else. Look for a fire sale in DC and Dallas. I would love to see Jason Witten at Tight End for us. :woot:

The redskins were able to break up the money between two season, so they still have 18 million in cap and just cut a few players to free up more money

They still have 18 million in cap space this year if they only apply half of the 36 m penalty.
