So far, i think that we only have 3 starter-type o-linemen.

I think that it would be very smart for us to address this weak spot in the draft not once but twice!

Call me crazy but i think there are plenty of rookie linemen than will make an impact right away! I say that we draft jake long with th 1st and one of the top tier rookies with either of our 2nd round picks.

This is what i would like our line to look like:

Vernon Carey
Justin Smiley
Samson Satele
Jeff Otah
Jake long

(i'm not quite sure if Jeff Otah plays guard or not but generally speaking, guard is easier to play than tackle so putting Otah at guard might allow him to make a more immediate impact as a rookie)

This is my first time starting up a thread on these forums so please be nice! ;)

Well, I agree that our O-line still needs some help. However, if we end up drafting Jake Long I have to hope that he's ready to go at LT right away. IMO drafting a RT #1 overall will be a huge waste of that pick.
Also, I would be surprised if we were to take both Long and Otah. Both are projected to be LTs. In most cases, you can find an OG who will make an immediate impact in the mid rounds.
Myself, I think we will draft Chris Long 1st and the next pick will be Cherilus or Baker or Carl Nicks - whoever the highest rated OT left on the boards happens to be.

No way Otah falls to #32, wishful thinking IMO. I don't see Jake Long as good value at #1 either, As much as I really wish we would take OL with our first two picks, I just don't see it happening. I see us taking C. Long or Gholston at #1 then an OT at #32 and a guard with the #57 or the #64 picks.

Isnt Otah a tackle anyway ... and no way we take 2 o-linemen with our 1st 2 picks!

Mayock had Otah as a RT, paraphasing Mayock, "He plays in a phonebooth".

Strong as an ox just doesn't have the lateral quicks...

My biggest fantasy is the Dolphins drafting J. Long and B. Albert with our first two picks. I think I would pass out if that happened. I know a lot of people think B. Albert will be drafted higher but you never know he could slip to us.

There are a lot of better options to take at 32 than a guard imo.

Edit: Although I think it would be interesting to possibly try to move Carey to guard if somehow we end up with two top notch tackles.

I wouldn't mind Otah at 32. Worst case hes a guard, best case he develops and becomes a stud. It also gives Ireland some tradebait in the future.

There are better options to take at 32 than guard but swordfish is right. If B. Albert slips to 32, I want some of that! Also, does anyone think there is any chance of Chris Williams of Vandy slipping to 32, and would he be better than Cherilus at LT?

I certainly wouldn't object to it, but it's not the route I'd take.
