Can you say no where. This game is more about team then one player and don't forget it.

We had/have a very good defense, where has that gotten us? Bottom line: we need a better OL/QB

I guess taking Miami to those conference championships and a Super Bowl despite an average defense compared to the one they have now means nothing? :shakeno:

No offense but this thread doesnt make sense.

Id rather have a superstar QB and a great team than an average QB and a great team.

Id rather have a star QB on a bad team than an average QB on a bad team.

Yeah its about the team....I still want a great QB

How many Super Bowl wins did Marino win again? How many does Brad Johnson have? How about Trent Dilfer? Amazing what a good surrounding team will do verses putting everything on one great player to just get it done. Heck, even Elway was a just a cut below an 80 QB rating.

It wasn't even average. They couldn't stop the run when it mattered. Pats beat us in the AFC championship game in 1985 with Tony Eason at QB (ugh) becuase the defense couldn't stop Collins and Tatupu.

The fact remains that a QB still has the greatest impact (as an individaul) than any other player. An elite QB can make up for lot of other shortcomings on your team.
The Phins couldn't run worth spit and couldn't play defense. Without Marino they weren't even a playoff caliber team for some of those years.

How many times did Marino even have a defense that was even average. There was his rookie year.........and the year he retired (when he was already washed up). No QB could've won with that supporting cast.

So you would rather have a decent QB with a great team than a great Qb with a great team? Because thats basically what your saying

You're bashing Marino because...........?

Marino had some pretty good defenses starting in about 1990 when we we started making the playoffs again, after a four year absence, so it`s no coincidence that you need a quality D. On the same note, we could never seem to get past Buffalo...but there`s always the running game (or lack thereof) for Dan not gettiing his ring. He was a great QB, it just wasn`t meant to be.

:boring:

While Miami didn't win a superbowl with Marino, there are some excellent memories and underneath all of that, you always felt like Miami had a shot with Dan there.

Sure, it takes a team, but how many other franchises can look back and say they had what Miami had with Marino?
