We have a very good chance my fellow dol-fans. Remember when Tampa bay won the superbowl. The team was in serious trouble...avg. OB no major talent at RB, However they had a very good Defense. Last bur not least they had a average at best head coach( dungy). The next year the front brought in a new coach, his philosophy and his attitude. At that time they had major question marks and began to shake up the NFL week by week. So to make a long point short, we are in a very similar situation( give or take a few pieces). I know we are turning heads and don't be surprised if we can make something happen this year. Just my two cents!!!

We have to get better against the pass 1st....we're doing fine on offense...much better than most would have believed considering last season's record and a sloppy pre-season.

Those are good points but I just want to get one win at a time. I absolutely hate having my hopes and dreams come crashing down around me. I think we have a chance to be a good team but just dont want to get ahead of myself.

Good points -- the way things are right now, we'd never make it past the Colts in the playoffs. They'd dissect us like a 10th grade biology frog.

I agree, but LET'S ALL REMEMBER THESE SENTIMENTS THE NEXT TIME WE GET AN L...

LETS SHOW SOME CONSISTENCY AS DOLFANS. NO CRYBABIES, WE'RE NOT GOING UNDEFEATED...

 The Fish are blowin' up!! Wait till we have some time to mesh, say about week 9

Damn...a little graphic dont you think? :goof:

Don't discount that Buccaneer team. Tampa Bay had an absolutely freakish pass defense in '02, by far the best I've ever charted. The Buccs gave up 4.79 yards per attempt on the road, then verified that dominance in the playoffs by destroying the passing attacks of Philadelphia away from home and Oakland on a neutral site. Many posters here like to claim '02 was our best team in recent memory, and a Super Bowl threat if we had made the playoffs. I doubt it. Road pass defense is always a great indicator of playoff success. In contrast, we gave up 7.47 yards per attempt on the road, more than 50% worse than Tampa Bay.

their D was MUCh better than just "very good". it was dominant.

same as the ravens SB D.

the fins DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF DEFENSE. it may be good, but DEFINATLY not THAT good.

your secondary is just not good enough.

Reluctantly I must agree with the Bills fan. Our secondary is simply not there with Howard and a rookie in Daniels. I think we can mask our weakness through technique and schemes as Saban was saying yesterday, but there will most certainly be times when it will be exploited ala Smith in the Carolia game.

Plus, I really am tiring of making comparisons to past surprise teams and such. It just doesnt make much sense when you sit back and think about it, any comparison really. There are just too many factors and differences.

This D is not in the same class as Tampa's was at that time...will it be ?? Maybe...but not yet...

I've always been told by Buc fans that Gruden won a Super Bowl "with Tony Dungy's team." One more year and he would've had it. Look what happened the year after the Super Bowl.

I wouldn't call Tony Dungy average "at best."

Tampa would NOT have won the Super Bowl if Dungy had stayed. I am convinced of that. Yes, Gruden won with primarily Dungy's core, but think about all the key players Gruden added on offense (Pittman, Dilger, Jurevicious, there may be others I'm forgetting) and the tweaks he made to the scheme. He made the offense that much better, coupled it with the already superb defense, and won it all. But when you compare this year's Miami to that year's Tampa, let's keep in mind that Tampa had been making the play-offs almost every year, and just couldn't get past the Eagles (or the Rams one year). Miami hasn't made the play-offs since 2001 and was not good last year. Different scenario.
