It just hit me while perusing the roster on the fins official website. We only have 7 players 30 or older:

- Albert
- Bushrod
- Urbick
- J Jones
- M Williams
- Wake
- Moore
- Denney

Of the group, Albert, Bushrod, Williams and Wake are the only guys that start or play significant snaps. Denney almost doesn't count because he's great at his LS job and age is not a factor for him. Moore, Urbick and Jason Jones are really backups or depth players.

It's interesting because we "feel" older. Perhaps it's because the older players are concentrated on the O and D lines? How much should this play into our drafting strategy next year? I think Wake can give us a other good year but Albert and Bushrod are getting long in the tooth for their jobs. Mario is only 31 and I expected more from him this year but if he doesn't find his game he's likely gone.

Do do you think we will go heavy on the O and D lines in the draft - even w the needs we have at LB, TE and possibly corner?

They give the averages of all teams and they are within two years if I remember right...so all teams are basically "young". Only place it really matters if you have some IMPORTANT pieces that are old. The only important pieces we have that are old are Wake and Suh (yes he is only 29...but that is right on the edge.) Those are two big pieces though. Also, three of the pieces you mention are all on the OL. This OL needs some work and needs to get younger.

Not worried about either. I truly believe wake is maybe top 5 most athletic freaks atleast in the league maybe top 10 all time. Id be shocked if he falls off anytime soon. I see him playing another 3-4 years at a very high level. Suh is the the same, another freak with a high motor who has his position as a helping him play longer. Dt's usually continue to play at a high level until mid 30's or so. Wake is another guy that could play as long as he wants.

This year has pointed out brightly the upside of a talented, healthy O-line. In Dallas also.

We need to upgrade the depth of the line so that injuries do not end our hopes.

Unfortunately....I see Pouncey and Albert as chronicly fragile...tough decisions to make.

I feel like Suh has such work ethic that he will be able to play a while barring fluke injuries. The position where age matters more is QB. Once a lot of these guys (Rivers, Brees, etc) get into their 30s it seems the added experience without a physical decline really pays dividends for the position. If we keep going with Tannehill (I hope we do) and he can stay healthy (even after all those hits) then I think that's where age on a team can make a positive impact.

Also who are we kidding about Wake- he isn't human so age doesn't matter.

I really think this is Albert's final year.

I love Wake as much as anyone but please stop with the "he can play another 4 years" BS. He's gotten hurt the last 3 years. I know he hasn't this year which is great but how soon before he gets hurt too? I can see him playing next year but wouldn't count on him after that. BA and Pouncey need to go, not because of age but they can't be counted on to stay healthy. We need to get at least one guard in free agency. We don't have our picks 3 and 4 so we can't fill every hole with the draft. We need to use free agency smart.

Ozzy rules!!

Miami has a limited amount of picks so they need to be careful with who they draft. Getting two comp picks for Miller and Vernon is a start.

It will surely be a critical draft for us next year as yet another regime starts to take shape and direction for their vision. I feel like Gase inherited a solid roster so it's hard not to get too excited over the potential of his 2017 squad.

While I am sure opinions will differ on which prospects are better fits for the Dolphins next April, the positions of need I think are clear and concise. Recent events surrounding our OL has pushed that area back to the front of the conversation in terms of the draft and I am ok with yet another first OL.

There is still a long way to go and a lot of football to be played before the draft but it's fun to think about.

We need OLB's.....that just needed to be said.

We can go a number of ways in the first round. As long as QB, RB, WR, and S are not picked..it would be hard to screw up

I said all off season this staff was going with the fail fast fail forward approach with this roster and we needed to be patient And not freak out. Easier said than done.

Were very young especially in a lot of key positions.

This season is about getting the offense on point for Gase, most of these players are returning next year, which is why we went heavy offense in the draft. Clearly they believe getting the offense to run the way they want to is harder than getting the defense on point.

And for the defense Vances main job was developing our incredibly young secondary.

Next off season we will put heavy resources to our front 7.

It's a solid rebuilding plan for the new staff, I respect it and support it.

I do not believe Wake is playing another 3-4 years. The team won't pay and can't rely on a guy like Wake that you aren't sure is going to get hurt or not. Why do you think they got Williams? Williams is probably gone the year after, if not next year also.
