We have finished 8-8 and I do believe we are on the up rather than on the slide, but the negative impact in keeping Ireland far outweighs the option of him staying another year.
The hiring of a new GM would lift the fanbase and give more optimism come this offseason.
With a new GM comes the decision of what to do with the current coaching staff.
IMO each co-ordinator, Sherman, Coyle & Rizzi have under performed. IMO Coyle more so, when considering the talent he had available, but we are now hearing rumours Tannehill was unhappy with Sherman come season end.
This leaves just Philbin. IMO a GM has to choose his own staff. Lets clean house and hire a top class GM, giving him the lucrative option of rebuilding a franchise, choosing his own staff, knowing he has a future QB in place and a D with 3 legitimate pass rushing ends in Wake, Vernon & Jordan. A GM coming in would know that the franchise's biggest weakness is the strength of the upcoming draft.
