We haven't signed anyone yet & people are already complaining - REALLY??

Who is this better, younger, less injured option that will cost less too? Monroe more expensive,Collins small body of work jury still out.Veldheer comin off torn biceps,Saffold always injured. Enlighten me

It seems your mostly aware, you just left out some important information that will better support the notion of passing on Albert. No doubt thats a coincidence.

Veldheer injured his tricep, Albert has a chronic back issue and nearly blew out his knee last year. Freak injuries happen, but in Veldheer case its unlikely to cause problems in the future. Can you say the same about back injuries in older players? Perhaps Albert will prove to be the exception, but history is fairly clear on the way those careers tend to turn out. The numbers being floated around for Veldheer come out as roughly $2 million less per season. The age difference should be obvious.

The numbers floating around for Monroe come out roughly equivalent to Albert. But hes younger and hasnt had major injuries. If your going to pay a player the same salary, common sense dictates you go with the younger and healthier guy.

And sure, our paid talent evaluators will have to make a projection on Collins, but its the same exact projection they are making with Albert. In both cases your trying to decide if the players can continue playing at a high level, on one hand you are projecting based on lack of experience, in the other you are projecting based on age and injuries. Oh, and one of those cases is more expensive than the other.

Now please, enlighten me: what has Brandon Albert done to deserve such loyalty? Other than having the words "Miami Dolphins" associated with him that is.

And before a single snap was played last year, many many people were proclaiming that last years offseason was the best ever in dolphins history and that every draft pick was gold and Jordan was a steal. Listen, if we sign Albert it may work out and he could be our answer at left tackle but don't knock people for thinking for themselves and actually forming an independent opinion on a potential signing as opposed to praising every move made. How quickly we forget last years offseason.

I also have it on good authority that the 2011 draft was the best we ever had. And before that, the 2010 draft was the best we ever had.

Its amazing how we keep having these super amazing drafts one after another but we keep losing games. Baffling, totally beyond explanation. Just like Jeff Ireland's lack of employment, simply cant be explained.

I'm not knocking people for their opinion of him I am amazed that people are already complaining & we have NOT signed him yet who knows how true the reports are.

Also to some others that say we should go with the other OT's on the market, maybe we contacted them & they weren't interested or maybe Hickey & Philbin who know ALOT more than me & everyone on here think he is the best option.

I know I shouldn't be but I am simply baffled by the hate already with the rumors of the Fins agreeing with Albert on a deal. First off who knows if the "sources" are true. Hickey can't win with some of you all, he is going after a top 10 OT that will be 30 but I imagine they like his leadership (which is what we need) & people on here are so upset. It's NOT madden football you can't just get who you want, maybe he reached out to Monroe & he doesn't want to come here who knows but give the guy a break his mission is to IMPROVE this team and Albert will improve this team if the reports are true & we sign him that's Great.

Lets see how things play out come Tuesday. REMEMBER we probably won't sign every player that comes to visit or we talk to & that's ok. I for one am excited to see what is going to take place.
Miami isn't getting a top 10 LT. They're getting Branden Albert

People on this board are going to complain about everything the Fins do. People need to ask themselves what we had on our line last year. Albert is an upgrade over everyone and IMHO, an upgrade over Long because of his injuries. Lets just be happy we are looking to upgrade people.

While I am not totally sold on Albert as a top ten tackle...where do you place him with the tackles that were available?

People were complaining last season when we were trying to trade for Albert. It didn't happen, we opened the season with Tinkerbell at LT and we all know how that turned out. If not the absolute best option, Albert is at least a proven pass protector that can keep our young QB clean for a couple years until better option is discovered. Bottom line, if we had traded for Albert last season we would have likely made the playoffs in 2013.

I was surprised last year when we didn't end up with Albert. And then passed on a LT in the draft. Somebody must have been really sure that Martin would pan out.

Now, there's other options, and I don't know why they're not going hard for Monroe. Sounds like Monroe is going to resign and he's off the table. Albert likes it here in Miami, he's an easy sell, and had one foot out the door last year, so I guess that's why we're going with him. He's a solid upgrade over what we have, and will keep Tannehill's jersey clean. I'm just hoping that he doesn't have durability issues in the next few years.

We are paying Philbin and Hickey millions of dollars, if we identify a player who can help this team then its their job to make them interested. If players are avoiding this franchise, then thats a big negative on those who run this team and they should be let go(in Philbin's case anyways, Hickey just walked in the door).

And no, sorry, i stopped acknowledging the "they know better!" argument years ago when people were justifying Ireland's constant failures. There are some on this forum who have proven to be more consistently correct than those employed by this franchise. Im done simply assuming Stephen Ross hired people who are shrewd evaluators, after watching him extend Ireland twice Hickey is going to have to prove his worth. If he does make Albert his first big free agent, then he wont be off to a good start.

Grimes was his first big free agent signing.

Grimes was already a member of this team, he was resigned. Its a semantics thing, technically your right, he is the first free agent. I just dont give that to much credit as we had him in the building already. It would have been a shocking, and telling, display of incompetence if we let him leave.

Absolutely a good signing, but its one of those things i expect to happen. I cant jump head over heels for what i consider a no brainer.

Albert concerns me with his back issues and I would prefer Monroe or Veldheer, but I am not going to complain if we get Albert. He is an upgrade to what we have and will help to keep Tannehill upright. It sounds like Monroe may end up staying with Baltimore and Veldheer looks to be heading to Arizona. For all of those complainers out there, would you rather we get no LT or Brandon Albert? This is a business. It is not like we were the only people bidding for these guys.

Didn't we do that last off-season and where did that get us?

All I know is that if we didn't have a turnstyle for an offensive line loaded with the awesome talent of the bully and his bitch, we would have made the playoffs last year with the crop of people we signed.
