We haven't signed anyone yet & people are already complaining - REALLY??

No no, im all on board now: not everyone can get the top free agents, so we should settle for mediocrity. Sorry, i didnt mean just "settle", i mean praise. Celebrate. We paid a bunch of money for the 3rd or 4th best option, raise the roof!!! We're giving a player with a bad back $10 million a year, we rock! Offer a lesser contract to a younger and equally talented player? **** that noise, they can give us a call after they've injured their spine and are 30, we'll be more then willing to pay them then.

Why should we go out and make the best deals possible when we can awesomely sign inferior players! This will be the best .500 season evah!

So if they try to get the top free agent and cannot, it's a total fail! Albert is there and ready to sign but **** it, didn't get the best deal on the best available LT. Veldeheer signs somewhere else for less money because he doesn't want to be here...**** it! Tannehill will be fine.

Albert may be the best deal possible with limited options. Whine away because you don't get the best every time. We all want the best. Reality is this team is screwed right now on OL and need good players badly. "Settling" for Albert if they have to is not the end of the world but I'm sure if you were in charge things would be different lol.

Yes, because its not like there isnt at least 1 other equally viable option in free agency other than Veldheer and Albert. Its totally barren, we would be completely out of options if those two were signed! Best be safe, lets pay Albert double what the market says. Perhaps triple. And build him a statue, we could even include a sweet looking back brace in it. But lets not stop there, Hickey and Philbin should be on their knees groveling when free agent starts, pleading for him to come and enjoy his massive contract in a state with no income tax and join a franchise that has the building blocks to be successful. And if he even hesitates for a second about signing his name to the contract then Hickey and Philbin should immediately commit seppuku in front of him.

Regardless, im totally on board. Youve fully convinced me that Branden Albert will do a superior job guarding our quarterbacks blindside as he sits on the bench with an icepack tapped to his back for multiple games of the season.

So tell me about the other options....who and at what price?

The rest of your reply is a pile of dog****, about paying double and triple and statues. Quite lame. Then again you are on "team douchebag" so not surprised you are living up to that.

Has anyone put any thought into the notion that free agents, especially OL might not want to play here given what a laughing stock this franchise became after "Bullygate"? Maybe guys either going to ask for more money/years/guarantee to play here or take less to play elsewhere?

Getting Albert helps solidfy the OL, were going to overpay, until we get back on track and become a winning franchise again. Hopefully by then people will have mostly forgotten this debacle...and Ross finally sells the team to someone with more of a football sense.

It seems your mostly aware, you just left out some important information that will better support the notion of passing on Albert. No doubt thats a coincidence.

Veldheer injured his tricep, Albert has a chronic back issue and nearly blew out his knee last year. Freak injuries happen, but in Veldheer case its unlikely to cause problems in the future. Can you say the same about back injuries in older players? Perhaps Albert will prove to be the exception, but history is fairly clear on the way those careers tend to turn out. The numbers being floated around for Veldheer come out as roughly $2 million less per season. The age difference should be obvious.

The numbers floating around for Monroe come out roughly equivalent to Albert. But hes younger and hasnt had major injuries. If your going to pay a player the same salary, common sense dictates you go with the younger and healthier guy.

And sure, our paid talent evaluators will have to make a projection on Collins, but its the same exact projection they are making with Albert. In both cases your trying to decide if the players can continue playing at a high level, on one hand you are projecting based on lack of experience, in the other you are projecting based on age and injuries. Oh, and one of those cases is more expensive than the other.

Now please, enlighten me: what has Brandon Albert done to deserve such loyalty? Other than having the words "Miami Dolphins" associated with him that is.

And the paying extra and statues were out of line, but you left out the whole "stabbing a knife into the stomach and dying" thing. What, was that right on target?

Actually I based it on how he's played. Why are you so offended that I informed you that he's not a top 10 LT? Is it because you know there's truth in that statement? Why didn't you fill me in on who he's better than and where he ranks since I don't " know football"? And show me where I said I know what he's going to get paid. I'll do you a favor and save you the time. You won't find anything because I never did. I did however state that if its a contract that is cap friendly and something they can get out of in 2 years if his back acts up I'm fine with it. I've actually watched the guy play. Watched some of his film. My opinion is based on what I saw and what I saw is no where's near that of a top 10 LT. You can drink the kool aid if you want but you're fooling yourself.

So they send bums to the pro bowl?? Got it! Thanks for enlightening me dude! I thought they sent the best players to the pro bowl. My bad!

Wow

I don't know why Miami didn't start and finish there GM search right here in this forum. I have never seen so many experts in one place. It's not just specialists either. These guys are experts on everything. The medical expertise allows them to tell you not just the medical history of players, but who is safer than who injury wise without ever having to perform a medical evaluation. On top of that they are top notch talent advisors with psychic powers that allows them to determine the best player for Miami, while knowing who is willing to come here without ever talking to a player. If that wasn't enough to sell Ross you can point to thier other worldly financial genius. They can tell you weather or not you over paid for a player before you ever sign him, or see any contract numbers at all. Someone has to alert the Dolphins organization to this gold mine of talent before other team poach it.

I've said this a few times. We could win the Super Bowl and people would be pissed about something.

Hey, if we don't win the superbowl by at least 30 points, throw 10 td's and run for 8, and get 9 interceptions in the first quarter, it doesn't count.

The Grimes signing was the most agreement I've seen on this board in a long time.

another old guy who had in jury concerns.

but NO hatred on that move. and that came from jeff ireland!!

this is ALL hickey hatred. as i have been saying, the fans have become sick with this hate obsession. its a REAL phenomenon, i have never seen anything like it. a guy who by ALL accounts [people that matter anyways] CLAIM HIM TO BE ONE OF THE NFL'S VERY BEST TALENT FINDERS and he is HATED! 18 YEARS AT HIS JOB, THROUGH SEVERAL REGIME CHANGES AND HE STILL REMAINED! HE HASNT DONE ONE THING FOR THE TEAM YET AND PEOPLE WANT TO TAR AND FEATHER HIM.

as i said, folks are starting to make JET FANS look reasonable. it wont matter who we sign, how much its for, it will be vilified. and when something doesnt pan out [something every gm goes through], they will be raiding the front office building like crazed zombies!!

its truly weird. sci-fi like phenomenon.

one thing to add, i dont think monroe was EVER going anywhere accept back to baltimore. and hickey knows it to.

valdeheer is linked to arizona [i live in az and its the talk of all talks, 24-7, valdeheer coming to town. that leaves albert.

i still think we are taking a lt early. we have NO backup and albert is getting older. but what a guy for a youngster to learn under! probably be a guy drafted and put at rt for a year or two and then over to lt.

or, if albert gets injured, we have a young, hi draft pic to put in. i see 2 o-line drafted early, even with the signing of albert. and thats good because WE HAVE 1 REAL STARTER ON THE LINE AND NO RESERVES!! none that can actually play.

They don't. If you've watched football for longer than 1 year, you'd know this.

Really? Your basing your opinion on a player based on a meaningless exhibition game that is used as a free vacation? So how many LT tackles did they send to the game? 6 max? You honestly think he was one of the 6 best LT's? He's much closer to 15.

And please, don't put words in my mouth. I never called him a bum. I think he's an average to slightly above average LT that is a poor run blocker but a good, not great pass blocker. To me that isn't someone you pay 9.5 million a year. Is it a necessary evil to have to over pay for Albert? It may be. Miami (Ireland) dug this hole and they need 4 new starters on the line. You're going to have to pay for that. It's supply and demand. Doesn't mean it's a great idea. Especially when the player in question is soon to be 30 and injury prone but I get why it was done. I apologize for offending you with my comment that he's not a top 10 LT. He's simply not. Watch him play and you'll agree. Don't make opinions based on Pro Bowl appearances. If you really want to debate where he stands among the ranks of LT's please come back with something much better than that
