We Hired Philbin -Whew!

All the herbs coming out to rip someone for speaking their mind......... Lame. Its sad because some of you actually understand football and even played it. You may have even played football enough to have been familiar with that mentality. But now its a social advancement issue, where we the sports fan deny that games like hockey, football and even soccer, basketball and baseball involve such physical tactics. In no way do i condone foul/dirty play, or an intent to injure players, but anyone who really knows football realizes that pain and intimidation are parts of the game. You want your opponent to say "oww, that hurt, i'm going to stay away from this guy". Thats what being a big hitter is all about, catching a player off guard and lighting him up ! If Ronnie Lott played today you guys would apparently be an angry mob, ready to tar and feather him.

What do you think of your average NFL defender ?
" He's disgusting, sir...., there should not be tackling going on in the nfl these days..... i want my fantasy player to last a full season for once. Just spread your arms out and hope the ball carrier bowls you over, loosing his footing in the process. And also this pressure on the quarterback thing is nothing but a distraction, just make the qb off limits already."
you are so far off base with this. he spoke his mind about supporting a disgusting practice and mentality that has no business in any professional sports, or sports at all for that matter.

I was one of the few that was happy Fisher wasn't hired and was even happier when I heard who he wanted for his coordinators. I was slammed on here when I said Gregg Williams was overrated and not that good...turns out he's even a worse person. If he would have been here it would have been yet another thing ESPN would have piled on with negativity towards Miami.

Actually in a poll, about 80% of us were either apathetic, ambivalent or against hiring Fisher. Remember last season after to everyone's chagrin, Ross extended Tony? And if that wasn't bad enough, he hired Daboll with his abysmal record to replace Henning? Agitation and angst ran amuck on this site and others. No feel good moments.

Well, if Fisher, with his mediocre record and control issues actually accepted and then came in to essentially hire the GM (it was so transparently a token job that several up-and-comers turned the Rams down), we'd probably be as upset as last season. Then imagine he hired one of the worst OCs in the league in Schotty.. everyone's head would explode but we'd be holding on to the rationalization that at least Gregg Williams was the real deal so it's not all bad.

Now check out Florio and PFT.. every other article is about BountyGate and they've been targeting in on Williams specifically not just as the Saints ringleader but also in Washington, with players coming forward to corroborate; and the groundswell is just beginning! Imagine how this site would be going totally ballistic having both the only saving grace hire's feet to the fire, the probability that he was gonna be suspended, disgraced and replaced and all the continued "Ross screwed up with Harbaugh" type negative publicity directed at the Fins, otherwise known as "the gang that couldn't shoot straight."

Thank heavens Fisher in collusion with his agent and Demoff's son played Ross to hose Kroenke for more benjamins and power. Long way of saying "there but for the grace of god go us." And thank you for being available Joe Philbin.

Jeez, I recall that game Favre against the Saints- Favre never got his ass kicked so bad in his career and even I thought it was a bit odd how they were pretty much punishing him. He even had pictures of his bruises which were pretty disgusting.

Screw what the NFL thinks. If I heard my team was that gangster id be loving it thats the culture we are missing down here. If you have the ball youre getting knocked out.

Uh we want our organization known as THE classiest in the league not the most trashy.

:bobdole: Bad karma and absolutely classless. This is what usually comes back to bite people like James Harrison, Suh, Haynesworthless, etc. Let's NOT become the Miami Thugs.

Dem classy dudes......

SIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a difference between playing physical/imposing your will and crossing the line and deliberatley hurting sormbody

You hear about things like this and we can all agree that its disturbing and pathetic. I really hope the investigation doesn't end up with some of our guys being implicated. I know one of the reasons I became a Dolphin fan (way back in the '70s) was because of the classiness (sp?) of the organization. With that, I'm not naive enough to think things like this haven't been going on since...well football started. I would bet back in the '40s and '50s it was just as bad with bounties, its just the pay off wasn't nearly as high.

Playing hard nosed physical football and sustaining injuries is one thing, but to deliberately target a certain player has no place in professional sports. Why limit it to the players? The Hansen Bros (Slapshot- movie from the 70's) can just take out the head coach or DC along the sidelines for that matter. Where could it end? It has to be contained.
I am glad the league is trying to send a strong message. Williams is a bum in my book. He just lost a lot of respect and I would not be surprised if he is suspended from the league.

Never played football...have you.

I wonder if the Saints had any bounties against Miami that year... I didn't really notice the rough hits like they were doing to Favre and Warner in the playoffs if they did.
